First define winning.. If it's democracy I agree it's a joke and lost cause. Muslims follow God's law and even if you get a democracy perse, it won't be something we want at all, it'll look a lot more like Hammas in Palestine where they were allowed to pick their own, or Algeria where fundis took over...last thing we want in ME is democracy, Osama wins in every country.

Is winning to stop the killing? Good luck with that - Muslims/Arabs understand the rules winning in warfare I talked about - There are the victors and the vanquished end of story. Fighting will continue until one side unconditionally surrenders all power, rights, claims and monies or die.

You're absolutely right we entered an unwindable war with above objectives. Yet another reason to oppose this war since it has no end game. I was only saying how to win in a absolute total war sense not nation building - which is really impossible.

On the ground, there wasn't much in the way of ensuring a stable government was in place, although Nixon personally promised South Vietnamese leaders that he would send them enough aid to continue fighting. Are you referring to before or after the politicians completely tied the hands of our fighting forces in Vietnam? Before or after some political idiot drew a line in the dirt and called it a DMZ? Before or after another political idiot pointed at a map and said "Please ignore the enemy when they go into Laos or Cambodia"?

The same problems are occurring today. If we gave our Generals free reign, the insurgent problem would have ended before it had even begun. But the media, the PC Police, and the politicians will never let that happen...
