I have a 52" DLP, hdtv content is a must.
Football in all it's hd glory is an absolute must.
Aside from that, I really don't care if there's anything else on it.
Which way do I go?

That didn't take much convincing.
There's a 69.99 sunday ticket, premium channel, all sorts of crap I don't need deal going on right now.
So I'm signing up.

Yea, if you order NFL sunday ticket for like the 240 or so it costs, you get 4 months of total choice premiere I believe.

Didn't someone say exactly the opposite in another thread?

No HD, so I don't know.

The one who offers a HD DVR?

I have Dish now and have had Direct in the past.
Right now, I have the 942 receiver and only get a handful of HD channels. But they look great on my 50" Panny. Not sure what Direct has in the way of HD.
For football, I'd definetly go with Direct.

Dish is substantially better in the hdtv dept than directv is.... if HD is a must so is dish.

DISH offers more HD channels right now after their aquisition of the remnants of VOOM. DirecTV is rolling out local HD channels right now via mpeg-4 and will roll out national HD channels later.

As mentioned, the only place to get NFL Sunday Ticket is DirecTV.

Thanks Boat.
I had to have the nfl package, went with DirectTV.
As it turns out, my football won't be in HD, yet.
I'm in the Johnstown market and the HD availability is lousy.
It's supposed to ramp up at any time and HD football content will/should be more widely available as the season goes on.

My Toshiba DLP has a "smoother" that cleans up the signal beautifully. Even analog looks great on it.
So I'm pleased at any rate.
The XM satellite is nice to have, too.
I've found myself listening to Boneyard almost constantly.

Do you have access to Comcast? Right now they have an offer called Triple Play.

For ~$140 it includes phone, high speed internet and HD content with DVR. The TV includes HBO, Cinemax and Starz for 12 months.

It is a very good deal.

If you get the Superfan package, you're supposed to be able to get all the HD games.

edit: I got a HD-DVR/Tivo and 4 months of HD programming for free by calling retention. Should have it installed next week if all goes well. Went ahead and signed up for NFL Sunday Ticket with the Superfan Pass.
