Unfortunately the only option I have for television at my apartment is dish network. No cable runs nearby, and no other option.

Anyways, my HD hasn't worked for 4 weekends in a row, and the dvr has been fucking up as well.

I have about 4-5 months left on my contract, but dropping it leaves the wife with no tv. I don't need this shit at all.

So I'll be demanding some deep discounts for the month, but anything I can do other then threaten to contact the BBB?

Feb 12 Update - So after being promised a free month of service, today I receive a double bill. Guy says that I'll receive another month of free service but that I'll have to either pay this months double bill, or pay half and take a hit on my credit. Fuck both options. Supervisor is coming on. Ending up paying $50 anyways. Now I supposedly am owed 2 free months.

Mar 6 Update
Just got my bill today, $80 as usual. What, the, fuck? Where are my 2 free months? Call #1, hung up on.. great start.

You can be nice and claim financial hardship. Worth a try.

No, I don't lie.

I was suggesting that only if it were true. Contacting the BBB is best bet, then.

Threaten to slaughter their families, and bomb their homes. Tell them if they don't provide you with the service you deserve, you will gut their first born, and fill him with kitty litter.

Have you checked their contract? If the service isn't as advertised I wonder if there's a stipulation to get you out of your contract. I'm assuming you have contacted them regarding the issues you're having?

Yes, the problem is that I have no other option for pay channels.

Sometimes does, sometimes doesn't. Our SDTV with the DVR on it in the bedroom fucks up too. All the shows set to record this week have not worked.

Why not call them and get these issues fixed?

Contracts usually work both ways.

Those are the days that I've called them for problems. I call probably about 1 out of every 3-4 days that we have issues not caused by weather.

ATOT is especially stupid today by the way. I ended up with a free month, but I'd still rather just have working TV.

What are you guys talking about when you call them? Seems like by now someone should have suggested changing out the box.

For 4 weekends in consecutive succession, the High Definition programming that I am in contract to receive in my apartment does not function correctly.

Since you didn't understand the incredibly easy statement, perhaps you'll understand the overly complex one.

Wow buddy calm down. I posted that while reading the thread before you posted the answer.

If you want me out of your thread, all you gotta do is say so. No need to get catty. Peace.

There have been several "known issues" with the dish that feeds my apartment complex.

I'm calm. Just a tad frustrated. I apologized to the service guy on the phone before I even started talking, knowing that it would be a frustrating call. And at the end I thanked him.

Considering you never said that in your op you should say what you have done and not just cry about it.

Sounds to me like someone is upset he can't see the good HD porn on weekends. :(

There is always the internet for that.

I don't watch TV, just trying to keep the wife happy.

Was just thinking, even though you don't get service from another provider, tell them you're unhappy with the service and explain the issues that have been happening and let them know if the service doesn't get fixed asap, you're going to switch. I know you're against lying but sometimes you need to do what you need to do to get results.

I would recommend perhaps shooting off an email to ceo@echostar.com . No, obviously, it is not the actual CEO's email address. However it is the email address for an escalated customer service group. You might want to write a detailed email about the issues you have been having and see what they can do to actually fix the issues rather than just discounting the service. Not saying that you don't deserve the discount but I'm sure you'd prefer having service that works on a consistent basis.

Tell her to get back in the kitchen and cook you a pie. ;)
