See above. You're not fighting anything. You're giving the trolls what they want. You're the victim not the aggressor. The only posters you're harming are third parties who don't want to hear any of it.

I understand why you think that, and normally I would agree. Things have gone way to far though.

If I think can stop a troll thread or poster by vitriol, derailment or inane pictures I'll do it.
Think of it as scorched earth posting.

Yes, what would a politics and news forum be without posts like this one?

I keep telling you, no ghey sechs until you buy me dinner first. Calling me honey does not get you anywhere without the dinner. I also have to tell you I am not a child, so if that is your fetish you are looking in the wrong place.

If he stopped calling me sexually charged names, I would not have to keep reminding him. Since I assume you are not a moron in real life, this means you know know this so why do you pretend not to?

I deliberately quoted without mentioning who posted it. The issue is not that specific post, or poster, or thread.

The issue is that P&N is completely out of control. It's beyond the occasional mere insult, someone losing patience or whatnot. The place is just a cesspool of vile behavior by many people.

Please, admins -- clean it up, or if you want to keep the place a free-for-all, give us a subforum for rational, intelligent discussion. Thanks.

Stopping the use of insults would go a long way to restoring what we had before the free for all, but not go back to the previous free for only some we had before the rules.

It did nothing to curb your disruptive behavior. It just drew the boundaries inside which you would continue to thrive with your counter-productive jackassery.

It did exactly what it was supposed to do, stop insults. It was not supposed to stop people from showing the truth, which is apparently what you were hoping for.

Someone that posts in that style can be safely ignored. You know that someone like that isn't bringing anything intelligent to the table.

What I find interesting is that the few who actually have put me on their ignore lists for short periods of time could not help themselves but continue to talk about me anyway.

And if everyone around here had the self-discipline to ignore known trolls, there'd be nothing for us to discuss in this thread.

But that doesn't happen in the real world. Which is why those of us tired of the garbage are humbly requesting a place for adults to discuss news and politics in peace.

A partial solution would be your removal, again, that would help clean this place up to encourage more honest and rational talk.

Too few bring this place down with far too voluminous filth.

A better solution would be to remove you, since from the moment I entered this forum you started spreading lies about how I am banned from multiple forums - a lie picked up by another here who blindly believed your lie.

Elaborate, please.

You obviously want to silence things you do not want to hear, which is why you claim that a rule against insults was supposed to stop people from saying things you do not like. Why would a no insults rule stop anything but insults?

I appreciate your elaboration, as it shows that what you think I am thinking and what I'm actually thinking enjoy a vast gulf in between.

Then explain what you meant when you expected a ban on insults to do anything other than ban insults. When your position is opaque, people guess as to what your position actually is. Be clear instead and then no one has to guess.

You don't have to guess at all. It doesn't concern you one jot as to require your speculation.

Wait...you post on an Internet forum and then whine when people respond. You are doing it wrong.

This thread isn't about me. Don't you worry a bit about me.

Why don't you follow your own advice then?

It did nothing to curb your disruptive behavior. It just drew the boundaries inside which you would continue to thrive with your counter-productive jackassery.

This thread is not about me either, yet you have no problem in posting about me. Don't worry a bit about me.

This thread is VERY much about you, and everyone knows it.

Why are you purposefully violating the request of a mod? Is your memory that short?

cybrsage, Bowfinger, dank69, I'm asking all three of you nicely to cease this accusatory back and forth. This is the bane of ATP&N, what so many of our thread discussions devolve into, far more heat than light.

If you need guidance on how to do this, please start by not personally referencing either of the other two in your future posts in this thread. This does not just mean taking their name out but still personally savaging them in such a way that every other poster knows whom you are referring to.

I'm not worried about you at all.

I was speaking about your behavior, which I understand you have no ability to manage. And you are certainly not the only one displaying such behavior, but you do serve as an example of how the insult ban did not impact the overall dynamics of the board and the discussions therein with regards to their vulnerability to needless disruption.

Actually you and few others made this thread about cybersage as the thread was supposed to be about an amendment to the "No Insults Rule".

It pretty much is about people like cybrsage though. The main argument I have at least is that the presence or absence of insults isn't the real issue. The big problem is the extremely poor, attention seeking behavior of a few posters, ones who continually crap up threads.

I think it's quite clear that he needs to be banned, along with a few other people. That alone would vastly improve the quality of discussion on this board.
