Nothing like Flame bait!! I'll chime in w my two bits later

Ever since I started looking at the JD power reliability data, I'd like to see how it is influenced by average driver age.

Well like all surveys it isn't perfect however I'd argue Lexus drivers aren't signifcantly younger than Lincoln drivers or Honda to Ford. Now Buick to Scion then yeah, but Scion to Mazda no

It would be interesting to scale the report along with data of the severity of report problems.

I mean a reported issue for "strange rattling noise from dash" vs "engine on fire" are going to be on opposite ends of the spectrum.

What is the hell is going on (engrish?!?!?!)? Jaguar 3rd on the list? Saab over Infinity?!?

And the Mercedes Benze number I don't believe at all unless the only people ever reporting issues in the world about their new benzes are my friends and neighbors.

I really hope they factor in mileage. That's far more important than years of age (3 in this survey) in determining reliability. Something tells me new Lincolns are very gently used. Pardon my dubiousness.

And Jaguar near the top?? 😱

These reports always come out about the same and the gaps are much less and the severity is minor compared to even 5 yrs ago. Yes the problem could be a bad sun visor or a bad transmission and they are weighted the same.

I find it much more intersting to see the trend, who'd ever see Hyundai over Honda? Even if it is withing the degree of error or reporting I'll seriously consider them now when 15 yrs ago I wouldn't. I'll be buying a car next summer and a couple yr old Buick just might be what I'm interested in to replace the Minivan. . .

It also doesn't help to have the whole brand rated. Maybe the Mercedes SLK is holding up the brand and they sell the most of those but the real crappy blow apart ones don't hurt them because they aren't volume sellers. Where Chev had the crappy Cobalt as a volume seller bringing down the much better Malibu numbers and so on

All I learned from this is that all cars are mechanical devices and aren't perfect no matter who makes them.

That the problem with lumping all the cars together by brand, if you look to to CR the SX4 is better than an Accord, or Fusion, a Fit, a Camry, any Subaru, any Lincoln its the XL7's and stuff dragging down their score.

There are other reasons I wouldn't get a SX4 but reliability wouldn't be one of them

That and the results have a bias against vehicles that are actually used for things. When is the last time anyone loaded 500 pounds of shingles into the trunk of a Jaguar? Fucking never. I did that last week in my car.

The top cars in the list are cars that nobody ever drives. Lincoln, Lexus, Jaguar, Porsche.
Who uses a Porsche for their daily drive to work? Pretty much nobody. If you did, you'd get out of your building and see your car on cinder blocks because ghetto trash stole the wheels.

lol @ Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep all being at the bottom.

I have a question. Is being stupid painful in any way?

My wife owns a 2006 Lexus IS we bought new in 2006. She has almost 80,000 miles on it currently. Her friend owns a 2002 Lexus she bought new and she has over 260,000 miles on hers.

I see people commuting everyday in Porsches, Jaguars, hell, I know a guy who commutes regularly in a Bentley Continental GT.
