Wait....Vista was released at the beginning of 07, and they want to launch the next version only 3 years after that?
There were 6 years between xp and vista!

Well, it looks like we'll have at least another year and a half under DX10.1

That was a mistake Microsoft won't be making again.
How much time passed between 95,98, 2000, ME, XP?
Exactly.
People seem to have very short memories...

DX10 and Vista should be a one-time thing. The entire driver model was rearchitected for threading and virtual memory purposes; I can't imagine that happening again.Originally posted by: bunnyfubbles
IIRC, 2000 came with DX7 which dates back to Windows 98...of which I'm pretty sure both OSes can be upgraded up to DirectX 9.0c...
also, I don't think anyone has said anything about Windows 7 being required for DX11, although considering Vista is required for DX10 it might appear that way, but there would be a chance of DX11 being available for Vista...
and on a side note, I've noticed that we have too many ATers treating Windows 2000 like it was a common Windows distro meant for everyone...yes, it was capable of being used as such and a far better solution than ME, but it wasn't targeted that way and thus really wasn't adopted as much as it probably could/should have been...
