I smell a lock...

Why? For discussing the legal and technical aspects of a mpeg2 decoder on a hardware forum? Suppose maybe it could be argued it would a video forum topic, but it's certainly computer hardware if not AMD/iNTEL/ATI/nVidia PC hardware, and even at that those companies may have supplied some the interal components. It's certainly a discussion. And the topic isn't how to hack or steal, though aspects of what is and is not legal have been addressed.

Sorry, but the attitude of the some of the replies has been extremely disappointing. People see cable or sat TV discussion and immediately assume it's about how to attempt theft. Which this is not.

edit: Forgot which group this was in, OT instead of GH

i hope this doesn't get locked...this was one of the most informative threads i've read in awhile now...i'm considering getting a satellite myself.

You could, sure...and that was part of my point before. It's stupid to have to pay to move your card when you can move the whole thing for free. Angling the dish might be a little difficult on your camper, though 😛

I have a RCA F38310 Tv with built in DTV Reciver, Right now I'm using my old reciver now here is the thing any way to get that card to work in the TV & Reciver since I wanna be able to swap it when ever I want?

no, it becomes married to the IRD, if you were to move it, then the card would not function in the other receiver, and you have a chance of having it not function in the original one unless it is cleaned and made into a virgin card again.

Actually, they sell DTV units specially made for RVs. I believe they have dishes that will align themselves on a stationary vehicle, but I'm not sure.

Check out RV sites online to find out.
