Oh yeah...I've already learned my lesson on that. I've got my Pirelli's at max sidewall PSI. It's like cruis'n on clouds with the handling of a minx.
I am at 150 PSI on the Prius and getting almost 70 MPG city. I'd go higher. 200, even 300 is safe, but I cannot get my hands on a compressor to bring it that high and as it was I had to do the last 20 on each tire with my bicycle pump.

With all the gym time you must have with that kind of mileage...I'm surprised you didn't push it to 300 PSI with just your bicycle pump. Maybe you just need to work on your pump form? Were you shod or unshod when pumping?

FVCK ME. I remember when you had to get the second replaced I think but you're about to have burned through a third? So, basically, your car goes through fuel pumps TWICE as fast as it does oil changes? Is this common with your car, surely most others with it aren't having this problem?

LOL. I never thought about it that way. I think the official oil change interval is like 14K miles. I got it done at 9K since my car just turned 1 YO and they put in the second HPFP at that time. Almost immediately, within the same tank of gas, I could tell that HPFP was going bad too. I was getting 10 sec long cranks when the car should turn over immediately.

It's not an uncommon problem with 335is. Just check the E90post site. I guess I can lemon the car after this third HPFP since in NJ I have 2 yrs of lemonability but I modified (cosmetically) my car so much I really don't want to lemon it.

The HPFP thing for the VAG 2.0t is weird, it only seems to affect people in certain areas of the country. I know they used to have problems with the 1st gen TFSI engine and injectors but then they switched to a different pump/injector and thats the last I heard of it. There was a huge post about it on MKVgti but it was just people wondering what if and not that it actually happened to them.

The 2.0T diesel on the otherhand is different, but it seems to be a problem with US diesel quality rather than the vehicle itself. The TDI was supposed to be released as an 08 model but something about extreme variances in diesel quality throughout the US made them redesign the system specifically for the US market. There are still some quirks to work out with it. There have been problems with rusting pumps because of moisture in the diesel fuel, the only real fix for it is to try and get fuel from stations that have a high turnover rate, or use additives or something.

Interestingly enough I haven't known anyone thats had a bum fuel pump on a 335i, and I know about 20 or so people that have them. (Including one girl that got her first oil change at 19k and puts regular gas in it)

What in particular makes the CA gas bad? A lot of ethanol? Sorry, not familiar with CA gas regulations.

Well you can only get 91 for premium and I think you all have other differences, like earlier adoption of ethanol blends perhaps.

Not sure really, just speculating.

I always put 93 in my car. I think 91 is the highest you can get in CA, no? Maybe octane levels have something to do with it? On the forums, there are many CA 335i owners with the problem as well though.

I'm at 15k on the MS3 and when I take it in for a service some time this summer, I'll make sure to have them look if there's any buildup. Don't feel any difference in power, just worn tires. I do tend to put my foot down at least once a day and fill with only 93.
