Doesn't your continent dip fries in mayonnaise?

I don't think it's just the Europeans that dip fries in mayonnaise; my Japanese wife dips fries in mayonnaise too. I thought it was weird at first, but it's grown on me. Put a little bit of shichimi in the mayo and it gets even better!

don't really like salty, and weep when I see something like this, ruining both the fires and the shake.

Wendy's is the shit. Big bacon classic ftw. It's not on the menu, but if you ask for it they'll make it. It's basically just a single with bacon on it on a Kaiser bun.

Yeah, but I'm guessing they don't typically do it with a one pound order of fries.

All things in moderation. It's the "moderation" part that is so foreign to the US. If a 1/4 pound burger is good, then a 1/2 lb burger must be great. And two of them is really the bomb. If you can drink 12 beers in a sitting, then why not? It's not about being full, it's about stopping only when you absolutely have to stop.

is wendies a fast food joint? the food looks freakign yummy!

Yes, but recently they've tried to be more upscale about it:
Never-frozen beef
Only premium chicken (none of that reconstituted stuff)
Salads full of Romaine or spinach instead of just iceberg lettuce
Sea-salt instead of normal salt (I think they might have gone back in this)
Skins on the potatoes (little less processed)
Sweet pickles sliced long
Non-typical combo substitutions, liked baked potatoe or low-fat chili
Teas with fruit instead of just sweet stuff
Etc

They even have a lounge.

Never-frozen beef has been their thing as long as I can remember.

So have baked potatoes and chili. It's one more thing that they do which sets them apart from most others which has led them to reinforce it with more premium offerings elsewhere.

They also popularized "Where's the beef?" when calling out their competition. They want you to compare/contrast and see that they are a step above typical fast food. Locally they have renovated every location with cafe-style media lounges so people will treat them more like Starbucks and hang out there for the WiFi or something.

I am about to do that. Sliced potatoes are baking as i type this. yogurt based mayonnaise, curry and Heinz ketchup. And of course spiced and sliced, grilled chicken.

God, life is good.

Fries in milkshakes has been around since at least the 50's. My grandma told me about it.

Fast food in America is terrible too. There's a reason they preclude with the word "fast." it is fast but don't expect any decent taste.

I gotta disagree with that. There are several FF joints that make very tasty food, Wendy's included, but it's certainly not nutritious. Can you imagine how healthy the US would be if veggies tasted like french fries? :D

Depends on what you order. What's "not nutritious" about a Mandarin Chicken Salad with a pack of Toasted Almonds? It's got generous oranges, spinach, lean meat, and no cheese. There are plenty of vitamins, minerals, proteins, and very little fat.
