I fired up three machines for DIMES. I just wish Java didn't use so much RAM...

We're closing the gap, we need some more recruits.

Silverthorne, sorry but I can't access PM let along post a new topic on these forums. I read your PM, I just can't answer it. I'm not sure if its a Java thing or what. But I added my 2nd pc last night so both agents are rolling.

Sorry to ask all, but what should my settings be so I can post topics on these forums? I've emailed the mods to see what the problem is, it's obviously on my end here but alot of the icons on the top task bar do not work, I click on them get a javascript:winopen on the lower taskbar but nothing happens. I've turned off pop-up blocker, set my privacy settings lower but no luck thus far.

Any 411 would be greatly appreciated. I recently hooked up my router but this was happening way before that. I also am using Nortons Firewall, so I'm going to see if that is the culprit.

We need to increase our production but considering the number of new crunchers added last week: that is not impossible! We need to recruit though.

Could I construe this to mean that any contributions by myself towards the TeAM are "unwelcome" ???

I think it means we need more recruits. It says nothing about you.

I've got to say that I rather like this little program. The fact that I can do it alongside other DC programs w/out affecting them is pretty nice. This is the only one I can run on my wife's laptop without pegging the CPU at 100% and making it too hot for my, or her, comfort.

I have added a second machine, and will add a third this week. :)

At one point I had four, but got a little freaked at the stories of ISP's getting upset. :(

No Way. Any contributions to the TeAm are always welcome. Big or small. Petrusbroder is just trying to say that we need more people on the project.

Sure, but we'll be overtaken by the Crunchers Inc. way before that.

We need more...More...MORE! :Q

I am sorry :( for the misunderstanding.
My sentence "Well, probably, but not absolutely necessarily:" refers to the sentence "Sure, but we'll be overtaken by the Crunchers Inc. way before that" and not "We need more...More...MORE!".

Of course "We need more...More...MORE!"

There was no slur intended on those who crunch for TA in Dimes. I did not want to imply that any cruncher's contribution is not welcome.

I will read my posts better before posting.

I would also like to thank all of you who have understood what I wanted to say in spite of my bad grammar. English is my third language ...

Petrusbroder you do not need to defend yourself, we all know you were not trying to slam anyone.

a new user question:
is there any possible way to have a single agent do more production? I have plenty of available bandwidth, and this would be much more efficient than deploying multiple agents on to individual machines to increase production.

Hi

In any case ... seems I have a few computers to throw into this cause ...

Don't really feel strongly about it one way or another and I hate that it won't run from a server ... but what the heck ... I've got it running on a few "odd" computers ...

The only way to make the agent do more work is to open the agent and go to agent/properties/network and move the slider to the left to 15. Putting the agent on multiple computers will increase production.

Cool welcome (back?) to dimes & thanks:)

Welcome to TA Dimes :)
Sliding the 'delay between measurements' bar all the way to the left will double the number of measurements & presumabley double client production.
Btw clients on different machines will map different parts of the net so that'll help output too :)
