Nvidia 2080ti FE PCB. The VRMs are adjoining the VRAM modules (Micron apparently rated at 95c).

And below is the MSI 2080ti PCB where VRMs are nicely separated from VRAM.

There are people reporting these issues though without gaming. At idle those VRM's are not going to be hot, much less hot enough to heat the surrounding area to over 95C. And while the VRAM may be rated for 95C, components can typically run at way over their rated temp, but at the cost of a shortened life (how much shorter depends on how much over the temp is).

I would be curious what the EMI is like with the components so close though.

The RTX2080TI and RTX2080 use the same GDDR6 chips and only the RTX2080TI is affected. This seems to be more a memory controller problem or the VRMs supplying the memory controller.

Well, people are still buying them. I get emails from EVGA, newegg, and B&H when one becomes available and when I click on the link the page says out of stock.

That's the reason, among the others, why it's necessary to avoid running to buy a new hardware so fast. And it's true regrading any new product of technology. It's true for electronics, cars and actually... what not? Early adopters are the manufacturers' guinea pig and it's better to not be a part of them.

YouTube is the geek's Instagram. Everybody wants to show they got the latest new hardware.

Are the MSI 2080TIs effected by this or just reference PCBs. Any polls out there that have a list of the various manufacturers?

RTX cards are dying without dependence on the manufacturer. It seems that it happens in all 2080ti models.

I'm not playing any games right now. Is there stress test for video cards?

Quote from gamers Nexus.
"
When we asked NVIDIA to comment, the company noted that it is working with individuals on a per-card basis, but is not seeing wide-spread issues. Talking to all of our board partner contacts off-record, none of them have reported higher RMA requests than normally. We trust our contacts on these and spoke with nearly everyone in the market. The most common RMA reasons haven’t changed from previous generations, and actual RMA rate is exceptionally low right now. Some board partners are at under 0.01%, which is just because these devices are so new that no one has even had a chance to encounter serious problems yet.

The problem seems to me somewhat concentrated to FE RTX 2080 Ti models, but there have been users with Gigabyte and ASUS cards who have come forward with similar issues.

Speaking with two of our SI contacts, we heard similar responses: Neither company has seen abnormal RMAs for these devices."

From what I heard at work, it is mainly the reference PCB cards, which would include FE.

Typical power-talk. They aren't actually answering the questions.

On what? their full range of products? That is probably what they meant while the question was completely different. Of course even if 90% of 2080tis failed that would hardly be visible in such a statistic.

I think that the point was those board members were speaking from anonymity and not in an official capacity so they should be more honest.

Bestbuy.com reviews show 5 dead FE 2080Ti's out of 19 reviews for whatever it's worth.

1080Ti is now eol'd and no longer in production.

Exuberant Beta Testers who are willing pay a premium for an underperforming card that doesn't even have functional features are getting what they deserve. Summer of 2019 seems like a good time to potentially scope out GPU offerings.

Or we just have no other options to drive our monitors at native resolution and framerates. I have 1 dead and 1 good 2080ti. Will wait to RMA till they figure out whats going on

Meme tier bleeding edge has its diminishing returns.
It's why I always purchase middle tier computer hardware.

Meme out your build and this is what you contend with.

New you can keep typing meme as many times as you want but 4k/120 at max settings is glorious
He is trolling and he knows it! I didn't see the same behavior when the horrendously bad Vega got released. And that one fared far worse than Turing did, at least Turing has the performance and image quality to justify it's price.

Justify its price? Wow Nvidia really needs that victim mentality. Keep it up. They might send you a free card.
