I managed to buy a 3.4 ee es chip from an awesome dude. It worked well after i received it. However, a thought entered my mind that since these are ES' a 3.2 can be made to look like a 3.4 and vice versa. Take note that the only thing wreitten on the heatsinks is engineering sample and the like. I used cpu-z and cpuid as well as pc wizard to find the steppings and model number to verify the processor. after comparing and looking up the spec sheets in the intel website, it turns out that the number correspond to that of a 3.2 EE and not a 3.4 EE. The bold letters show that its a 3.2 ee cpuid. should i contact my frioend again?

on cpu-z, it shows spec: Intel pentium 4 EE
family F, 15
model 2

hmm, does appear that it is a 3.2ghz EE, but the fact that it's an ES comes in to play as well, as a 3.4 EE ES could just as easily be a 3.2 with a 17x multi available.

thats what im saying. The es kinda muddles the whole picture. I called intel a while ago and all they said was that

":we wont answer your qustions! You shouldn't even have an engineering sample in the first place! what's your name and telephone number!"

all i said was *click

so what do you guys think?

yeah, that was kinda a bad idea calling Intel, they probably want to find out if you got the ES from an employee, cause that person would get fired..employees are not supposed to sell or give away engineering samples..

My 3.2ES only gets to 3.6ghz before it becomes unstable, so yeah, I would say ES chips don't usualy overclock well, they are after all test chips.
