I go into a local store today and decide to buy a drink, and while getting the drink I noticed they had one spot labeled "Ice" and one labed "Diet Ice." WTF is "diet ice?"

Has anybody else ever encountered such a thing?

Diet ice must have caffeine or something. At least that's what the "diet water" turned out to have, right?

Sounds like a genious scheme.

Put the word "Diet" in front of anything and people both skinny and gigantic will fall for that trap.

I wonder if there is any legal requirements that a product must have to be labelled as "Diet"... seeing as diet really IS just a generic term for eating habits, good, bad or in between.

My only guess is that either a) it contained caffeine or some other "metabolism enhancer" as mentioned by a previous poster, or b) it was made from filtered and/or spring water, and therefore somehow earned the designation of "diet."

Or, like Injury said, it's all a marketing ploy.

It causes brain cancer. If you heat it to over 130F, like in a hot bottling plant, it breaks down to DHMO.

If you are looking for an alternator sized cube of ice, good luck with that. They don't make ice into cubes, silly.

What is this, the 80s when it's cool to make fun of "diet' products? "I know this guy who ordered a bacon cheese burger and DIET coke!" HA HA HA, how funny.

Diet coke is 120 less calories per can. Have 4 cans of soda and that's 500 calories less per day. Some peopel don't need that, awesome. Some people do! I still think that drinking water is the better idea, but stop it with the 'diet' bashing. It's so dated.

"DIET ICE?" Sounds like you're making that up or misread a product label. It sounds like a drink of sorts, perhaps a rip-off /generic version of crystal light?

The second week of a diet always makes one grumpy.
