8.4/10 with 2058 votes on imdb right now.</end quote></div>

It was 8.5 but it will go down even further than 8.4 though hoping for it to stay above 8.0 but doubtful.

The imdb score always goes down.

Holding at 8.4 with just over 5000 votes.

The difference between a movie being good or not-so-good is based on swearing? I have read some inane things over the years, but this one cracks the top 10.

Unbelievable.

nobody is really saying that it has to have swearing, but the problem is, a lot of Die Hard fans are used to the McClane's personality and use of swearing, a lot, during the movies. So they are worried about this one being PG-13, and thus, not a lot of swearing. But I'll say, its a great movie nonetheless and the amount of swearing doesn't feel wrong for his character. His character has aged, it makes a little sense, and he still swears, just with different words and it never feels out of character in any way.

It's a definite must-see this summer as far as action flicks go.

Not bad but still it already has gone down just like I expected even if it was only .1 points.

The Rock, directed by Michael Bay, was awesome!

Same goes for Bad Boys and Bad Boys 2
You got too much bass in your voice... that scare white folks...

Bad Boys... one of my favorite quoteable movies... motherbitches.

I saw it last night. It was good. I found it to be more like the third, which I didnt like as much as the first two. I thought I would be pulling my hair out from annoyance by the mac guy, but I didnt find it to irritating.

Pretty bad ass way to kill the bad guy. Awesome!

Well it sucks to know that he won't say Motherfkr or Fvck!

I'll still go see it though!</end quote></div>

I think Bruce was able to still say one of those but not the other I remember reading for a PG-13 movie.</end quote></div>

He better say MFer with as much as they're advertising the line, "Yippee Ki Yay m..." all over the place.

After seeing it on several buses and at every subway stop, I'd feel cheated if I didn't get to hear Bruce Willis say it at least once.

QFT...either way I am going to see it tonight.

Michael Bay is awesome

The Rock
Armageddon
Independence Day
Bad Boys
Bad Boys 2
The Island
and now Transformers

all of them (with the exception of not having seen Transformers since it is not out yet), have been excellent movies for what they are. The Island is the only one really that you can say was bad or good, depending on movie taste. For what it was, it was what Michael Bay can do. If it was a great story, that's for your interpretation, but it was a great flick. 🙂

What I saw from the previews... it looked a lot like True Lies' action... true ?

no, true lies was more spy action, this one was just plain fun.

just got back from it and I LOVE it. best die hard movie, and probably the most fun movie I've watched this year. I agree with the high ratings.

I am pumped to go sometime tonight!!!

I watched the first one from 88 last night and it was hilarous, I was rofl'ing when he would quote his famous quotes.

It was pretty good overall. Although I think most people here have a hard time seeing Mac guy as anything other than... the Mac guy. I was hoping PC would be an enemy and punch him in the face or something.

Also, one thing that bothered me... they had an F35B in the movie... if I remember correctly, the F35 just had its maiden flight only 4 or so months ago and that was the F35A... the B isn't as common... (it's the one with the vertical lift engine).

EDIT: Oh and Mai (the Asian chick) was hot stuff 😱.

This was an awesome movie. Best action flick of the year, period. You can always count on Bruce to give ya a good performance, and he did a great job in this one. Some of his reactions were very funny. The Mac guy was annoying at first, but he redeemed himself near the end. I absolutely had a lot of fun at this film.

Just got back from seeing it. The wife and I both really enjoyed it. All of the action sequences were very well executed. The Mac guy did a great job as well.

Is there any anandtech user here who has seen this movie already and its a complete shock that they did because they are very picky about their movies ?

it was FEATURED in the film, but I doubt they actually ever had that thing flying on set like that, or even were able to use it in actual flying scenes. It's likely they were able to model it, but as you said, it's maiden flight was recent (December 2006), and thus is not in production. Maiden flight is first successful flight of a finished model. The F-22 had a maiden flight in the early 90s iirc, and wasn't introduced into the military until recently.
either way, F-35B is an AMAZING flying machine, and a very capable one at that.

So like about 10 people went and saw it? 😛

well, it wasn't opening weekend, likely opening day.
Opening weekend is technically this weekend right now. I work at a theater, and it sold pretty well tonight. Won't be breaking any records, but its definitely selling well.

Saw it tonight and I liked it. A lot of action. Perhaps slightly longer then I wished, there was 1 scene I wished they had cut out involving a plane vs. a tractor-trailer truck. Other then that I loved it. The mac guy was actually pretty funny. The OnStar scene was funny as hell, and Bruce Willis had some funny lines too.

Yeah.... the semi-jet scene was pushing it a bit too far.
And being able to go from NJ to DC to WV to Baltimore in just a few hours...

But other than that it was a really fun movie. I really liked it. DH1 will always be the best but this one killed the other two. I wasn't expecting much when I went to see it but it was great. Best surprise of the summer so far.

Yeah Die Hard is a classic and I wish Die Hard 4 had more of the same tone as Die Hard. With a really great bad guy and no over the top action. I think someone said it best on a review. Die Hard 4 felt more like Terminator 3 did compared to the other Terminator movies. Oh well it was still a pretty good movie and a lot better than expected!

The scene in the tunnel was amazing!

Wow this movie was completely badass! It met and surpassed my expectations for what I had before I saw it. It is just one non-stop action movie that is fun in all aspects from start to finish. Highly recommended by me!

And tomorrow is Transformers!
