I am a man, I was in the Army at 26.
(Yes, I am saying that if you were never in the military, you will never be a full fledged man)

Even if I didn't register, I'm not 26 yet :D

My HS had the little forms in their office and were actually quite clear about what would happen if you didn't register. My parents also told me about it, but didn't know the extent of what it would change.

Yep. I suppose I would have known that I didn't after trying to apply for financial aid 10 years ago.

But actually remember registering around 18 or so.

It was either part of my Navy enlistment paperwork (went to bootcamp in June of '89), or I was high as fuck and just happened to be at a post office...probably the latter...:hmm:

What's the point of having us do this thing again? The draft isn't coming back.

Congress can't agree that it's Monday.

Yes, around '79 or '80 when they reintroduced registration mostly because of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.

I registered a month before I turned 18,
during the same week I signed the papers to enlist in the navy.

I registered when I turned 18.

They had been telling us for a year in school we would have to. I can't understand anyone not knowing this is required. It's also the law.

For you to miss this in high school you must have been totally checked out.

I tried to register a few days after I turned 18, but I was automatically registered when I got my driver's license.

same. we were told that we wouldn't get federal scholarships or grants if we didn't (and can't work for the government either). not to mention it is the law..

I enlisted in the Military before age 21.

I have already been all I could be . . . . . I am a trained killer!

I have nothing to look forward to. Just joking.

Didnt know about the automatically registering thing. Maybe someone told me this at some time.

Age 53

I've got no memory of registering, but according to that site apparantly I did.

It says I registered 5 days after I turned 18. Don't recall doing that...

Imagine how much money the government could save by shutting down this silly and pointless system.

I can't understand anyone not knowing this is required. It's also the law.

Indictment for not registering requires a significant burden of proof of it being knowing and willful and they haven't prosecuted a case in 25 years. People who register usually have a reason, those who don't avoid the circumstances where it's necessary. SSS registration has merely become a de jure requirement. The worst it can get are denial of the things I mentioned earlier (or for young adult immigrants, failure to register before turning 26 can deny citizenship).
