This "they donate not becausse they want to but because they dont want to be lables as someone that did not donate" was the original statement. I say not all people donate because they face a stigma. Some people can relate to losing their children, parents, friends and want the same experience they had to not happen to the victims of the people who died in the Tsunami. So they donate money to help fund hospitals, recovery teams, etc. so they can save people more quickly and reduce the number of deaths. I didn't donate.

No offense to anyone here, but I rather give my money to a poor kid in Africa who needs food desperately rather than some homless man here who needs some weed desperately.

As rare as they are in my community, I still donate to homeless people, but sometimes I do wonder whether they put it to good use. Also if I was face with a choice between giving all my money to the Africa kid than the homeless man I'd give it to the kid. I'm not trying to start a flamewar here so lets agree to disagree =).
