UG if gods are created than that implies a creator. Now I know where you'll go with that so I'll jump ahead and say that somebody had to create the creators. So there we are back to God.

There is precedence for the discovery of new species, there is 0 precedence for the discovery of a god.

again,
what was their probability of existance before they were discovered?

UG,
gods aren't discovered, they're created.
what empirical data do you have to support this statement?
or is it your faith and belief?
and is it blind faith?

If life equals God, then God exists because life exists. Why not make the words synonymous then? I'd say because of the different uses for the term life:
  • Main Entry: 1life
    Pronunciation: 'lIf
    Function: noun
    Inflected Form(s): plural lives /'lIvz/
Etymology: Middle English lif, from Old English lIf; akin to Old English libban to live -- more at LIVE
    Date: before 12th century
1 a : the quality that distinguishes a vital and functional being from a dead body b : a principle or force that is considered to underlie the distinctive quality of animate beings -- compare VITALISM 1 c : an organismic state characterized by capacity for metabolism, growth, reaction to stimuli, and reproduction
2 a : the sequence of physical and mental experiences that make up the existence of an individual b : one or more aspects of the process of living <sex life of the frog>
    3 : BIOGRAPHY 1
4 : spiritual existence transcending physical death
5 a : the period from birth to death b : a specific phase of earthly existence <adult life> c : the period from an event until death <a judge appointed for life> d : a sentence of imprisonment for the remainder of a convict's life
6 : a way or manner of living
    7 : LIVELIHOOD
8 : a vital or living being; specifically : PERSON <many lives were lost in the disaster>
9 : an animating and shaping force or principle
10 : SPIRIT, ANIMATION <there was no life in her dancing>
11 : the form or pattern of something existing in reality <painted from life>
12 : the period of duration, usefulness, or popularity of something <the expected life of flashlight batteries>
13 : the period of existence (as of a subatomic particle) -- compare HALF-LIFE
14 : a property (as resilience or elasticity) of an inanimate substance or object resembling the animate quality of a living being
15 : living beings (as of a particular kind or environment) <forest life>
16 a : human activities b : animate activity and movement <stirrings of life> c : the activities of a given sphere, area, or time <the political life of the country>
17 : one providing interest and vigor <life of the party>
18 : an opportunity for continued viability <gave the patient a new life>
    19 capitalized, Christian Science : GOD 1b
    20 : something resembling animate life <a grant saved the project's life>

Adding one more definition wouldn't be asking too much, would it? Oh, I'll be darned, it's already listed under #19 for Christian Science. So add #21, the common connection or bond between all living things : God

If science could prove that there was such a connection, would it be asking too much to call it God? Too unscientific? What else would you prefer to call it? Heh, a rose by any other name...

<< Elledan,

<<The chance (a) god(s) exist(s) is smaller than the chance that there exist alien species in this Universe.>>

do you have any basis or evidence to back this up, or is it just your belief or faith?
>>

I guess you already got your answer from Aihyah. The basis for such a statement is called 'common sense'.

Concerning faith: It requires even faith to believe that the chair on which you're sitting now actually exists. Life equals faith.

<< If life equals God, then God exists because life exists. Why not make the words synonymous then?>>

Life equals 'god'? Where's the evidence to back this up? Sorry, but it just doesn't make sense to make life equal to something of which you haven't got the faintest idea whether it exists or not. Be realistic.

God is life. You don't totally know what life is either, yet you admit it exists. Your definition of life is merely too narrow. See the 19th definition of life by Merriam-Webster. They're willing to acknowledge a more open minded definition of life too. Quite reasonable!

Wrong, I don't admit life exists, I believe that it exists, but I'm not convinced of it. It's a matter of faith :)

wowie, this thread is still going! I cant think lately.... someone above said that there must be a creator that created a creator. So, in that sense there can't be a god because God's definition is something that non greater can exist. (although that term greatest is vague).

Can anyone believe that there was no beginning and there will be no end? it'll just be an ENDLESS chain of life and death. I know if you believe in this, then GOD doesnt make sense in it. But you think there is an end of space? ok, lets say there is an end somewhere, then there must be something after that "END", it might not be space but there will be something.

Endless, Infinity.. kind of mind numbing, but that's what seems more reasonable to me then TOTAL beginning and an ending.

Anyone read a book called, "Tuesdays with Morrie" ? (the book not the movie) It does have some parts where morrie refers to GOD, but i suggest that you read it, it has good points in it that can be shared between both of us.

I dont remember the exact words, but there is a little story that Morrie tells that I liked alot.
"There once was a wave in an ocean. He had great times bouncing around with other waves and playing around. Then one day the wave saw another wave infront of him breaking and dissappearing on an island shore. He was so scared and afraid, he said, " OH MY GOD! HOW CAN SOMETHING SO HORRIBLE HAPPEN TO US! LOOK IS HAPPENING INFRONT OF ME!!!". Then a wave behind him saw his face and asked, "why are you so sad?". The wave replied, "You dont know this, but we will all be destroyed, All waves will be broken!!!Isnt this horrible?".

then you know what other wave said? he said, " You dont know it well, we are not just a wave, We are part of an Ocean".

I dont like the way Mitch Albom (author) wrote the book too much, but Morrie's words are very meaningful. I suggest you read this, as it's easy to understand for a shallow man like me ;)
