Did you buy a diamond between Jan 1, 1994 and March 31, 2006?

$35.97 settlement for a .75 karat princess cut? that must have been some low-grade rock you got. I paid like 2k for a .48 karat diamond and got $52 back for it.

I didn't lie, I got it for a steal and provided all costs it had.

I am sure your rebate was nothing like the amount of money I saved the way I bought mine.

The reason your payout is so much higher is you got ripped off. I really didn't so much, but it's a class action suit. I was thinking I'd end up with a check for $0.01 or something. I have gotten a few of those.

edit: also you using the word KARAT for diamonds is funny as fuck. It's Carat bro.

Bullshit. The used market on diamonds is crap.

Because so many are selling retail priced stones. If you buy at wholesale pricing/close to it you can resell for the same price (minus setting and stuff).

A diamond is a commodity. Also, most diamonds sold are previously owned to begin with.

what the shit - I spend my life on this forum and somehow missed this thread in '08. OP I can't believe you got a 2-carat ring for only $2500-ish. When I bought in '04 I had to pay double for half the size.

carat does not dictate price. It's ok though, you aren't that smart.

anyone game to post their checks and their certs? I think the biggest are the most fucked.

If you're talking about carat weight then I would tend to agree with you. They are typically the most flawed.

I worked for the instrument manufacturing division of the GIA for many years and we had a diamond that was just under 2 carats we used to use for calibration that was flawless and it was valued at around $10k... just for the stone (and that was 10+ years ago so it was probably undervalued even then-it's a very conservative company).

That was kind of a fun place to work actually and working there was what brought me to San Diego.

Got a check today - ~$134. Far less than I paid for the diamonds, but free money is free money...and the marriage is still going strong!
