Occasionally if something serious is on my mind it will produce the same results, but usually it's because I'm WAY too tired to be driving.

Memory is a funny thing. You normally remember life events easily, but you can't remember what you ate two weeks ago. My guess, the higher the impact on you the more likely you will remember it. It's like everything else, over time you become decensitized to the things that happen over and over and over again.
