i'm all for free speech, and i don't particularly believe in god. but aside from crossing his student's personal religious barrier (which will be different from one individual to the next) i think that the professor was somewhat inapporpriate w/ his lesson. now, i have no idea wth he was teaching, but you have to be one sorry professor if you can't get your point across w/o having to say "fuck god".

suggests that the phrase was not "fuck god", but that "fuck" and "god" were both placed as separate entities on the blackboards.LeBlanc reportedly revealed two blackboards at the front of his class, with the F-word written on the left one and "God" written on the right one.

"Teacher to class: 'F--- God'"
I can't help but notice that the context of the actual informationsuggests that the phrase was not "fuck god", but that "fuck" and "god" were both placed as separate entities on the blackboards.LeBlanc reportedly revealed two blackboards at the front of his class, with the F-word written on the left one and "God" written on the right one.
Considering the psychological weight of both words, in addition to their apparent opposition (certainly any nutjob who gets their news from worldnet would agree, as does the student in question), having those words on the board could have easily served a legitimate role for demonstration and discussion in a psychology or sociology class.
Is it not ironic that at the bottom of the article, there are links to two other articles:
Corruption 101: How U.S. colleges are perverting minds, morals of next generation
How U.S. colleges brainwash our youth
May I humbly suggest that anyone who feels that either of the aforesaid titles reflect a legitimate concern immediately submit to sterilization so that they do not have to subject any progeny to such an immoral institution.
And, on one final note
Bob Stotler, a 30-year-old student
what a "fucking loser".

You are too kind. I hope they refund him and kick his ass out. While I agree with the sentiment "it's never too late to learn", I do think it's obvious that learning is not this student's highest priority. It may be crass, or even *gasp* - socialist - of me to suggest it, but that classroom had (presumably) dozens of open young minds, all of which have the possibility of having their educational experience diminished, simply because a closed minded individual is being allowed to make trouble. Life is for the living.

There is no information in the story about anything useful, like the circumstances beyond having "fuck" and "god" written on blackboards.

put the words "fuck" and "god" together and what do you get? a professor reprimanded by a close-minded student.
Its not about the student being close-minded.
College is for learning, not for being indoctrinated with your professor's political and religious beliefs. It's one thing to provide alternate viewpoints and open the classroom up to discussion, a perfectly normal and expected thing to do in college. However, far too many teachers think their job entails converting their students to their political or religious beliefs, and its about time these teachers start getting reprimanded.
How would you feel if you were paying good money for a class, and assuming you don't believe in god (which I'm drawing from your whole 'close-minded' statement, if I'm wrong I'm sorry), the teacher decided that every lesson was going to be intertwined with bible verses and the word of god? What if YOU got singled out on the first day for being an athiest? Would you feel like you were getting your money's worth when it comes to your education?
I think the kid should grow a little backbone, but at the same time, I also think the teacher should teach the class and leave his own personal political/religious beliefs out of it.

No. Should we only expose students to ideas they already believe in? Or should they be slammed with opposing views?
Maybe his choice of words was unfortunate, but I don't have a problem with the method in general.

yes, but only because I find swearing offencive, I believe it is his right to go around say how evil he thinks any relegion is. I dont like it, but it is his right. But I also think that students should be alowed to freely discuss relegion if they so desire (though not in class).
