Considering the psychological weight of both words, in addition to their apparent opposition (certainly any nutjob who gets their news from worldnet would agree, as does the student in question), having those words on the board could have easily served a legitimate role for demonstration and discussion in a psychology or sociology class.

This is exactly what my econ teacher did... try to shove socialism and christianity creationism down our throat as if they were facts, then came up with a bunch of bs "facts", such as 1% of america owns 99% of everything, and 90% of the wealthy people out there inherited their wealth.

You are too kind. I hope they refund him and kick his ass out. While I agree with the sentiment "it's never too late to learn", I do think it's obvious that learning is not this student's highest priority. It may be crass, or even *gasp* - socialist - of me to suggest it, but that classroom had (presumably) dozens of open young minds, all of which have the possibility of having their educational experience diminished, simply because a closed minded individual is being allowed to make trouble. Life is for the living.

I just meant using his age against him is innappropriate, he's still a moron.
it doesn't sound like he got singled out though. the professor wanted the students to realize the emotional impact that these two words have. besides, i wouldn't take sociology. too many papers to write. haha!

yes, but only because I find swearing offencive, I believe it is his right to go around say how evil he thinks any relegion is. I dont like it, but it is his right. But I also think that students should be alowed to freely discuss relegion if they so desire (though not in class).
swearing and swear words are two different things. he wasn't swearing. he was using a swear word to make a point. what i find interesting is that people find such words offensive whereas other functionally equivalent words or phrases aren't.
