Did the "change of culture" actually make a difference here?

The "change of culture" you speak of has nothing to do with your poll. C'mon, you know that already.

Ask someone who got banned for a year about whether the "change of culture" was real or not. If you can find someone like that.

Oh wait...

Just a new, inexperienced mod waving his e-wiener around. Fortunately, the more experienced mods kept 'moderate' rule :p in existence.

Not that AT doesn't have the right to regulate the site as they see fit, of course. It just seems so out of line with the past, that's my take on it.

actually, I forget what the change of culture was about, but I do know that a lot of people left because of it. I know you were banned for a super long time....

oh. Well I thought it would be fun to see if anyone remembered what it was about or if it was felt that anything was accomplished by it...

Whose ownage?

You totally called out a mod :p

I call them like I see them. I know I'm never going to be a mod around here or anything, myself (I stopped trying to suck up a long time ago) -- I shoot my mouth off way too much, and oldsmoboat doesn't like me. :p -- and I do respect the work it takes and the human factor. You asked for an honest opinion of what happened. That's my take on it. I may be wrong, and I don't think anyone had ill intentions, but I think that's what happened.

To be honest, i did think it did help quite a bit. Maybe not in the day to day normal trolling or flames, but in general it did.
And, i do feel it was not just about respecting the women on here, but a mutual respect to everyone... the sad thing is, it should not have to had been said. The old "treat others as you want to be treated" still should hold true.

Yes, it did.

Care to elaborate?
One of the stressed areas in the "change of culture" was that you could not call anyone a female body part. I don't think calling someone a certain male body part is well tolerated either.

Since then I don't see words like the c-bomb being posted.

Nobody treats anyone with respect around here -- too many noobs who don't know who's who. Some of the trolls check their tongues out of fear these days, but it's easy to see the same old shenanigans seething right below the surface in those cases.

too bad it doesn't happen

edit: So beat me to it.
edit 2: bah, you edited it to make it sound more pc. the way it was worded the 1st time was right on the money. its not just the noobs. there's plenty of lifers and people who have been around a good while who fill their quota of disrespect.

"Nobody"? I have to disagree. There are plenty of members here who get treated with respect and are respectful.
