Old one seen at the family reunion today

Theres one or two others but I still need to get pics. Currently on vacation right now but HAD to put this one up....Enjoy :)
Also, a story about one very VERY rare 64 Malibu that my Uncle owns will be on with the vacation pics. To give you an idea of how special....More rare then Yenko. In fact, Chevy doesnt even have the VIN number of the vehicle on file.
Yep, its a Chevy Mailbu. But Chevy didnt build it.....Or did they... ;)

Enjoy the Olds.

The VIN has to be kept on file. If the VIN can't be found, it doesn't exist. I ran into something similar with GMC. A gentleman had a GMC truck that was only made for a few months before GMC switched mid-year to make the truck completely different (or stop making it entirely, in other words, and call another vehicle by the same name). The VINs are on file SOMEWHERE, but it may take some digging.

if it's a test car without a VIN then it's not streetlegal right?

A test car... Hmm. Well, if Oldsmobile had it's way, the Corvette would have the Olds logo instead of Chevy today. Things happen and cars switch divisions. Was that a pre-Chevrolet Camaro?

What if the car has dealer plates?

Well, you have to register the car with the state --using the VIN. And you have to have it insured --with the VIN. Both have to be verified, so I dunno how this would work out  General Motors guarantees all parts availability for up to 10 years on all it's vehicles. So, in theory, it would be possible for you to order/purchase all the parts needed to build a 1995 Corvette from the ground up. But, since it wouldn't have come from the factory, it won't have a VIN and therefore you couldn't register it or insure it --and it wouldn't be streetlegal.

In order for that to happen, the dealer has to have the car insured with his insurance company for the plates to be legal -- falling back to the problem with the VIN and insurance verification.

3 64 Malibu's were built as test cars for the 64 racing series. 1 was for drag, 1 for track (Oval) and the 3rd is known totalled. I dont know the names of the racers, but naturally my Uncle does. Well, HIS Malibu has ended up looking to be one of those 3 test cars which Chevy built the sent out to a place called the Toy Shop I think. There find out everything the 18th. But yeah, its a super, super rare 64 Malibu. So rare its 1 of 3 original, 1 of 2 existing today. :)
DAMNIT! You made me tell the story early.

Incredibly!
the funny thing is it looks stock! It isnt till you really look things dont add up. Its offset of track racing. It has (Had) hood pins. Little things like that. They figured it was just a race car owned by a small time racer, nothing special. They went to sell it and started investigating to advertise and when Chevy didnt have the VIN on file they got very curious.
Ends up it could very well be a frickin gold mine!

There's no DOUBT that it's worth a gold mine. There's a Camaro going on Ebay for over a million and it's one of 6 special editions, including the LS6 engine and some special modifications done, giving it over 500 horses. But it's new, too. That Malibu can probably easily put 8 kids through college.

my Muscle Car

There will be pics of my Uncles (Other Uncle) up later. Late 60's Camaro SS, pulled the 396 and dropped a 454 in it. Fast? Like greased lightning. :)

well i only have a 427 in mine,
with a 4 speed,

my car has a few rare options,it came with disc brakes,a fold down rear seat,
a console,a 4 speed, It was painted Tuxedo Black, withblack bucket seats/black interior.
It came without a radio,etc.

Official Chevrolet production records show a total of 220,906 Camaros built in 1967
133,481 V8 Coupes,
64,842 were RS optioned
45,806 had M20 4 speed Transmisson
17,993 had the Rear Folding seat
14,899 had the Front Disc brakes option
9,079 were (A-A) Tuxedo Black
2,375 had the Clutch Fan (K02)
136 had the 61 Amp Alternator

Your car also has the optional 160 Mph Speedo;
and does Not have a Radio, which was rare,as less than 20,000 were
ordered without the radio option, and many of those had a radio installed
by the local dealer.

I went to the annual "Make-a-Wish" car show at Anhueser Busch last week end. A lot of very nice 60's muscle showed up including a couple of beautiful '67-68 Camaros. Your 427 must be quite a ride. I still have a while to go before my '69 Skylark 455 gets back on the street. Every show I go to gives me that much more determination to get it done.

Well, the car can spin the tires,a Little,
i have had it for 7 years, and do a little each year to it;as like many people;money is not plentiful. ;)

I have put,1969 style disc brakes on it,as the stock calipers were $350 Each, and the 69 style were $25,each.

I put hei ignition in it as its much more powerful/dependable than points.

I put a new cam/intake bigger carb,etc on it .
Flowmaster American Thunder duals
this year i put a 9 inch,with 3.50 posi gear in,with moser eng. axles.

A little bit at a time,it takes time,and or money,both really. :)

You got that right.

Mines is bare back to the firewall. Engine, trans, front suspension, everything removed for cleaning, painting, and rebuilding. I'm almost to the point of putting it back together. I'm doing a lot of what you've already gone through. It's just a Skylark and not a GS so I can be a little more forgiving when I change things. I'll be doing 4 wheel disks and changing over to a 200-4R trans for the overdrive on the highway. I've got a ways to go, but it'll be nice when it's done.
