my Muscle Car
There will be pics of my Uncles (Other Uncle) up later. Late 60's Camaro SS, pulled the 396 and dropped a 454 in it. Fast? Like greased lightning. :)
well i only have a 427 in mine,
with a 4 speed,

my car has a few rare options,it came with disc brakes,a fold down rear seat,
a console,a 4 speed, It was painted Tuxedo Black, withblack bucket seats/black interior.
It came without a radio,etc.

Official Chevrolet production records show a total of 220,906 Camaros built in 1967
133,481 V8 Coupes,
64,842 were RS optioned
45,806 had M20 4 speed Transmisson
17,993 had the Rear Folding seat
14,899 had the Front Disc brakes option
9,079 were (A-A) Tuxedo Black
2,375 had the Clutch Fan (K02)
136 had the 61 Amp Alternator

Your car also has the optional 160 Mph Speedo;
and does Not have a Radio, which was rare,as less than 20,000 were
ordered without the radio option, and many of those had a radio installed
by the local dealer.
The 427's pulled harder than the stock 454's anyway. By the time the 454 was seeing serious production numbers it had been smog-strangled and the 427 never had to deal with that crap. The L-88 427 would dyno at well over 500 HP without internal modifications. I've heard of at least one case where the ZL-1 (identical to the L-88 but 100% aluminum) dynoed at over 580 HP without any internal work.

ZV
Aluminum crankshaft? :Q

I always thought I'd be getting some kind of sports car about this time of my life. Fancied getting a Corvette, actually. As it turns out, I'm more in the market for a truck or work van! :(

I actually need it for work! The trunk of my Town Car is being abused. I could use the conversion van in the background, but both the A/C and the gas tank leak! Guess I should fix it, eh?

I'm sure the work van would be the smartest thing to buy but I would buy a truck and put a shell on it. You should fix the car and get that truck, I have tried using my car as a work truck and it just doesn't cut it.

Damn! I decided to get the old '88 E-150 conversion van on the road, so I jump started it and pulled it around in the driveway, to fix the gas leak. All of a sudden, the brake peddle went to the floor. It was a brake line. Damn rust! I got another brake line and installed that, then I put some epoxy on the fuel outlet from the gas tank. I wanted to get it up to Tire Kingdom by 8:00PM, so they could give me my Oil Change and tire rotation tomorrow. I've got a special coupon book that I bought for $40.00, that entitles me to 6 of these services. A special promotion from when they first came to town. I can't find the damn coupon book! Turned the house upside down and I can't find it. Still have 3 more services to go, damn it! What a sucky day...

Great thread!

Here's a site with some project cars my Dad and I have done: Muck's Place
Here's a few updated pics of my car at Chevelle-a-bration '03 in Tennessee: http://community.webshots.com/user/supadupacheezhttp://community.webshots.com/scripts/editPhotos.fcgi?action=viewall&albumID=60246211

I'm 'only' 32 so I didn't grow up with these types of cars but I have ALWAYS loved them. They may not be the fastest, most reliable, most efficient, or the best handling....but they will ALWAYS turn heads and they are just damn cool!

Thanks Ornery! I say that because a lot of people make comments such as "It's nice but it's not an SS". Those are the same people who look at a Yenko Camaro and say "It's nice, but it's so stripped down...I like SS's better". Anyway....

Stallion: That is a SWEET car. I have always loved those but could never find one for a decent price. I love the Buick GSX's and Stage models. I went for a Malibu for one simple reason (besides price that is :)) : When I was 12 I saw a '70 Malibu with Candy-apple Red metal flake paint and a 350 sitting in front of a house with a for sale sign on it. It had the Rims with the Gold center and chrome outers. I was in love and told myself I would own that car (figuratively of course). Well....I now own 'that' car minus the Gold rims (I came to my senses). It's all about dreams....and making them happen.

What do your timeslips say (If you care to divulge)? Just interested. I've never ran mine but plan to after I do some engine upgrades (maybe the whole engine) this winter.

So far I have got a 12.78@107 out of it. I hope to get down to a 12.4s or less at the end of the month. I bought an Olds because it was something different. After buying parts for it I now know why every one wants a Chevy. Cheap parts and lots of availability. ;)

Those are very respectable times! These definitely aren't cheap. Before I started doing this, I was under the impression that the 'big' things would be the most 'expensive' but it turns out that the 'smaller stuff' (trim, wiring, etc) is how you get nickled and dimed to death. Good luck!

Also, a story about one very VERY rare 64 Malibu that my Uncle owns will be on with the vacation pics. To give you an idea of how special....More rare then Yenko. In fact, Chevy doesnt even have the VIN number of the vehicle on file.
Yep, its a Chevy Mailbu. But Chevy didnt build it.....Or did they... ;)

Enjoy the Olds.

I had that model Olds when i was 16. i believe mine was a '72 model. didn't have that engine tho. :( only a 350.

SDC,

This is my dad's car, 1966 Ford Anglia, it's Canfy-Apple red metal flake (unfortunately my camera is crap, and any camera seems to see "through" the metal-flake to the red underneath), with gold rims, it looks the business. I would seriously consider the gold rims on yours, on my dad's car it looks so nice.

Yikes, that may be OK for the Anglia, but he's GOT to keep that beauty stock! :Q

Didn't have my camera with me, but there was a FLAWLESS, black Chevelle of that vintage at my son's school this morning. The massive 3" dual exhaust is the only thing that didn't look stock. You better believe the kids all turned to look when that puppy started up. Just a nice low rumble that commands respect.

/insert my lack of knowledge of American muscle cars

Now i've seen that picture I understand why :) The way I intepreted it was that it was how he saw it/they should be, so sayin that candy-apple red with gold wheels looks nice :)

Confused: I love the Candy Apple Red with flake but I have since fallen in love with the Misty-Turquois I currently have on it. I hated it when I bought it (that is original paint) but grew to love it. It shines nicely in the sun and looks better at night (plus it's very easy to keep clean looking :) ).

I think everyone should set their car up (regardless of whether it's a Honda or a '32 Ford) the way it makes them happy. If you are into this stuff to impress other people...get out. If you're in it for YOU then do whatever makes you happy and leave the complainers behind in their crappy rust-buckets.

Just what's left of my 2 cents!

It ain't a muscle car, but it's pretty cool! It's just around the corner from my brother's home. The guy has some muscle cars in his back yard, but I didn't get a chance to shoot them. Maybe next week...
