Did my monitor short circuit and damage my mobo?

I came home to find that my ps4 and pc weren't transmitting a signal to my monitor. I can hear through my headphones that my ps4 is definitely turning on and functioning, it's just not communicating with my monitor. I borrowed a friend's ps4 and it also does not transmit a signal to said monitor. So my scope of the situation is that the hardware responsible for sending a signal to the monitor has been fried. Is this possible? any recommendations for further diagnosis?

sorry I didn't word that quite properly. I have tried my ps4 on another monitor that definitely works, but the ps4 doesn't transmit to the monitor. There is almost certainly damage done to the hdmi port on my ps4 mobo.

Sounds like my current situation thanks to a lightning strike. Monitor kind of works still, but there's major fringing artifacts and red horizontal lines that trail any white pixels onscreen. Bizarre. Unusable now.
Also there's no longer video signal output from the onboard graphics (no video card).

When powered on, the monitor just displays the standard "No signal detected" message when connected to the pc, after the manufacturer logo splash screen. It's only when I connect it to a working pc that I can see how ruined the display is - and the symptoms I just described above.

The mouse shocked my hand when the surge struck. The DSL modem went "POP" and ejected some fragments of blown up electrical components. The smell of roasted electronic parts filled the air. Also our incoming water line just outside was ruptured, cutting off all water to the house.

The pc still boots though, if the lights and sounds are any indication. BUT it did spontaneously reboot itself though after booting, and ran a scan (it appeared from hard drive activity LED), so there might be some instability from ... corrupted hard drive?

I experience a similar problem when I upgraded my PC a few years ago. I had just finished installing all my new hardware & software before i first enabled Freesync. Then the entire system crashed. The monitor was still fucntioning, but the CPU & Mother board, and one RAM stick were toast. I blame a faulty Display Port cable.
