i've been thinking a lot lately about my life - where it is, where its going, and things i didn't do.

for instance, i didn't go to college. my family doesn't have money and my grades in school weren't all that great (especially math) so I probably wouldn't have been able to get into a decent college. also, the last 2 years or so of high school i was extremely unmotivated. i didn't really know what i wanted to do. ended up going to community college shortly after HS for a semester and just couldn't get into it. i was sick of going to school. i was taking 4 classes. stopped going to 2 of them halfway through because i just couldn't grasp what was being taught.

all the while i was working part time at the job i had since i was 15 or 16. worked there for 4 years.

so a little time goes by and i see an ad in the paper for a tech school. they had a 1 year long computer specialist program. sounded like something i wanted to do. well, i learned a few things but mainly it was a waste of time and money (parents paid for it). you got no certifications or anything after completing it.

a few months later i got hired for tech support at a large company. worked there for about 2 years and a friend from work (who also happened to go to the tech school) decided to go for his MS certs. i thought that might be a good idea too. i hated my job and wanted to get out and thought this would help. that was a 6 month course and i ended up getting my mcsa cert.

2 years later (4 years at the company) i get hired for this network admin job i recently complained about.

i'm 25 now, living at home still because i don't feel like i can support myself on my salary, i have no idea what i want to do as a career, where i want to go with my life. i don't feel motivated to do anything. the only time i'm really happy at all is when
my mind is off somwhere else, like in a book, a movie, a game, or listening to music, etc.

i just really don't know what to do and its driving me crazy.

thats the thing, how DO i do what i love?

i've thought about writing a book, like sci-fi or fantasy, and i have lots of ideas for stuff like that, but i don't know how to actually write a book or make it interesting.

same with a movie or game.

i'm still paying for that MS cert course and will be for awhile, so going to school again isn't really an option unless i can figure out how to do it for free. plus i live in central PA where there isn't exactly much to do or places to go.

You have to think of the things that fuel you.. what is something that you've done that you could keep doing and doing and it wouldn't really get old? You've got to evaluate what you want to do more.

For some people work is their passion, and for others work simply is a means to enable them to pursue their passion in life.

Or you can make like office space and just sort of do whatever...more zen like :)

i can usually pick up/learn stuff quickly, especially if its something i'm interested in. i am good at troubleshooting and problem solving.

all my education has been with computers. I do better with hardware stuff than with software.

like i said, i believe that i'm creative and can come up with great ideas for things but i lack the knowledge/ability to create them or express them in a way that people would enjoy.

Get a job as a head chef, you can use your computer knowledge to streamline your orders/seating and you can use that spelling ability to make a flawless menu.

heheh. Isn't everybody??

Why don't you get a better paying job first(work for the City, limo driver, something like that). That way you could move out, maybe save some scrilla to get in some schooling, then find a wifey or rent a hooker on the weekends. That should kill the time.
