So its like the accuracy of the show then. Interesting.

MB has gotten worse in later seasons because they dumped a lot of the science for pure showmanship. Still fun to watch though.

As for a delivery system, of course an ice bullet is not going to work in a firearm. Now if you're using compressed gas, that's a different story. You could in theory create a small pellet of ice and shoot it from an air gun. Not enough to kill but you just need to penetrate the skin. The ice could be infused with a poison like ricin.

A bit unrelated, but I hate the fact that the original mythbusters have a crew now. They're just irritating.

Weird. Sometimes I actually dig Grant, Kari and Tori's segments better than Adam and Jamie's.

Who cares. Use a regular bullet then destroy the body down to the DNA in a ceramic furnace, dump the ashes in a cement mixer, and call it a day.

I like that they "busted" the exploding disc in the drive "myth" that has totally happened to me. First, they clamped a disc to a high-speed drill which only added structure around the hub which would prevent cracks from spreading. Next, they failed to account for different discs constructed of varying qualities. I have several more discs that I can show the cracks forming in the hub if they want to take a look at them.

Yeah, people are thinking way too hard about how to kill without getting found out. I know forensics is sophisticated blah blah blah but most of the time they got lucky or the killers are simply too dumb to cover the tracks.

My Diablo 2 Play disc exploded in a friends 52x drive. WwwrrrrrrrrrrrRRRRRRRRRRR---BANG! Drive was dead and had to be pried open. There were dents in the metal and the disk shook out in about 100 1/4" pieces.

Busted myth busted.

The show used to be fun, but it has sucked for years now. Worst of all is the stupid "After the break" or "coming up" where they spoil the surprise. And every time they come back from commercial they give a 5 minute summary of what you saw one minute ago. Add in the inevitable "Let's try it with C4!!!11" and you realize they only seem to have a few minutes of actual content per episode.

How about an ice howitzer?

Or just drop a 2 tonne ball of ice on top of the target? (An ice bomb). If you make it out of frozen urine you'll have a cover story (or is that two myths in one?).

Busted myth busted.

Had a cd break into four pieces in the drive once. Evil corporate swine made me pay a 'replacement disk' fee that was almost as much as buying the thing again.

I had a disk shatter in my drive as well.

I was happy to see them do some myths revisited... I knew they were wrong about the running in the rain experiment. If you run, vs. walk, your body sweeps out an equal volume of space, thus, in a vertical rainfall, it makes no difference, EXCEPT, if you walk, your shoulders and head are going to get hit with more rain. Again, as someone said, it was common sense. If someone walked really really really slowly, i.e. it took them 45 minutes to go the same distance as someone who ran and made it in 1 minute, they're obviously going to end up soaked.

Anyway, their insistance that the only way an ice bullet could be fired is via gunpowder was an error. As someone pointed out above, something like a modified paintball gun could easily cause an ice bullet to achieve a lethal velocity. In fact, if you wanted to scale it up, using PVC, and a quick release valve, you could easily make a lethal ice projectile the size of a potato and fire it from, you guessed it, a potato gun (use compressed air though; it's far safer than igniting hair spray or other combustibles, plus you can control pressure and achieve higher pressures safely)

Hmmm... now that I think about it, I'll bet iceballs would work better than potatoes. Plus, probably lethal within 25 yards or so.

heh, I've done the thought experiment with the rain, in my case I was thinking of rain hitting the car and loss of momentum to the rain. What I came up with is that there's a minimum that you could get wet. Basically the volume of the space you're traveling through. To hit that minimum you have to travel at the speed that the rain is following or faster.

For an ice bullet you can have a sabot made from a magnetic material and use a rail gun to launch it. You can add sawdust to the ice to have it not melt fast. Pykrete, it's called, and it's more like concrete. Not sure how much the sawdust would give away.
