We are back to where we began, it’s the Old Testament which is superseded by the New Testament. Catholics don’t follow the Old Testament exclusively, they follow New Testament first then the old.
This as presented would be more of a Jewish thing and for that matter we don’t know anything (at least in here) about the translation which can yield screwy results.

As it should. God in the Christian belief system is regarded as omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient. Hes all powerful, all knowing, and all present.

Important point our ancient ancestors didn’t look at children how we look at children. To them a child was a small or smaller more useless and more irritating adult. They simply did not understand the concept of “childhood”. For our Biblical ancestors it wasn’t weird to leave an unwanted or extra baby outside because someone who wanted a baby could take the baby as their own.
