Did anyone else find Napoleon Dynamite to be a crappy movie?

the movie left a bitter aftertaste after I watched it..

The plot is non-existent (in fact the whole plot can be summed up in 2 short sentences), the character is one dimensional (there is not much character development), and the dialogue is mundane.

When I was watching it, I kept telling myself that a funny scene will come up. It never did. I didn't find Napolean getting hit by a steak to be humorous at all. I don't understand how this movie gross 40mil, which is more than Harold and Kumar.

Anyone else think is overhyped?

I didn't like it. There were a few good moments ("I'll bake her a cake" and Napoleon's date riding in the front seat with the Mexicans), but overall it sucked. It's hard to give a good opinion though, I hated it mostly because people in the theater laughed at the stupidest crap.

sometimes I watch stupid movies (ex. road trip, american wedding) to get some laughs

this movie has no depth and is not funny
I just don't understand why so many ppl found it funny

Me and my SO watched it and both of us thought it sucked. The characters were not funny at all and were really low quality in their acting abilities. We didn't finish watching the movie cause we thought it was so bad and we were falling asleep just trying to force ourselves to get to the end. I can tell why some ppl on ATOT found it funny but that has nothing to do with the movie and is based more on my ATOT experience.

I'm outraged it did better than Harold and Kumar... mainly because that scene where they realize they forgot something in their room look down the hall and decide it's too far happens to my roommate and me on almost a daily basis.

Beavis and Butthead were better actors than this lot of idiots and sleep inducing dialogue.

Hilariously off the wall. It's the kind of comedy where you have to buy into the premise. Once you accomplish that you'll LYAO.

it had like 2 funny scenes and the rest of it bored the crap out of me. I took my 11 year old bro to watch it with some friends (by a miracle of god he snuck past the ticket booth and I didn't have to pay for him) and he used the word "sucked" for the first time in his life. Worst waste of 9 bucks... well actually second worst. First worst was The Hunted. Harold and Kumar was one of the best movies ever made. The fact that more people went to watch Napoleon Dynamite just makes me sad.
