In connection with the recent thread about 1994 (I think that's the one) being the best year for 90's music, I pose this question:

Did 90's rock (Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, etc.) make any sense whatsoever?

I've been flipping back and forth on Sirius from the 90's alternative/rock station to the classic rock station, and while I still love all the songs I loved in the 90's, I have no idea wtf they are talking about. Am I getting less in touch with my inner child as I age, or am I just getting old?

90's had alot of dumb lyrics.

Lots of music from England could only be understood by people from England. Lots of music from the US sounded good, but the lyrics could remain a mystery to what they actually meant.
 
Dog shit. I bet Led Zeppelin or Beatles sold more CDs in the 90s than 90's bands. Most of them you won't even hear ever again on Radio.
 
Well I remember seeing a documentary about Nirvana and Cobain said he wrote song lyrics by just putting together phrases he thought sounded cool.

So no it probably didn't and doesn't make any sense.

I think that summarizes all music from the 80's and beyond.
 
I'm sure if you try really, really hard, you might be able to some a song or two from every era that had lyrics that made no sense. I won't go so far as to guarantee it, but i'd think it would be possible.

You might have some problems with stuff before the 50s. Outside of pure novelty songs, I think they all made sense.

Aren't they 80s bands? Motley Crue stands out as the absolute worst concert I've ever seen. I reluctantly went because a friend of mine needed someone to go with him, and the ticket was free(for me). It was so fuckin' loud I felt nauseous, and of course the music was terrible. Their skill didn't improve any from their studio crap :^S
