Wow, that's a really neat idea. If they did it with fives people would complain, but $2 is just small enough that people would just use them. In my country the smallest note is $5, makes strip clubs very expensive.

I guess throwing coins at a girls coochie up on stage can get a little dangerous.

where'd you even get the $2 bill? are they still being printed?

either way, doesn't seem like a dick move. you can't use them in vending machines, but I can't see a store refusing to take one.

Any bank will have a collection of them, same with half dollars. I usually bring in a 20 and get 10 bills every few months when I'm at the bank depositing a check for novelty. Kids really love them as gifts.

thats what we do. my daughter loves getting them.

I tried to swipe my credit card once but they kicked me out.

That's why you can't throw them - they need to be inserted carefully into the slot.

My friend was confused, and said the waitress would be pissed because you can't use a $2 bill everywhere. I'm of the opinion that currency is currency, and I have never had problems using a $2 bill.

Who is in the clear here?

Your friend is inexperienced and the waitress is mistaken. Legal tender is legal tender.

If you do that you get 5 minutes in the back room.

This...perfectly legal tender...and should not be refused anywhere in the USA.
(although there are morons who've never seen one before and may think it's bogus.)

$2 bills are sweet. People not understanding them are, well, dumb. That old Best Buy story rocks, though.

op as well to question it.

however who the fuck tips only $2 for service for two?

OP apparently tipped 20%.
I see alkemyst point. I have quite a few times tipped $3-5 dollars on small bills based on service alone. Sometimes you have to consider that and forget any formulas. It was service for 2. Just saying the counterpoint. Still like the $2 bill.

I only tipped my portion of the bill. My friend tipped his. Total tip was $4 for $18.79.

Some people will refuse it because they don't have a slot for it in their cash register. Which is stupid. They usually don't have slots for $50 or $100 bills either, but they accept those. I've worked a few different retail jobs, and they all had room for miscellaneous crap somewhere in the register.

I usually keep $10-20 in $2 bills in my wallet for "emergency" cash. It's not something I'd normally spend, but if someplace doesn't take CCs, I have a backup.

And this reminds me .. I gave a bunch to my father in law. I need to hit up the back and replenish my stash.
