i have had numerous mris/x-ray/ct scans done over the 7yrs but my ailment was always in my upper back/neck and was muscular related. so no dr (of the 30+ that i had seen) ever went down lower on my back because i never had any issues with my lower back (or so i thought). it wasn't until i started to walk for exercise that these issues started.
unfortunately a lot of the drs i saw kind of blew me off because i was/am relatively young and at the time was in good health, and good shape which has slowly gone down hill and nothing was showing up on imaging, because it was (i thought) all soft tissue related.
so yes, there is a possiblity that the tumor has been there a long time, just never seen before...not really sure at this point.
this may sound f*cked up, but it is nice to see some validation that there is a problem that others can see as they can't feel my pain. it is just sad that it takes a tumor (malignant or benign, either way it will probably have to have something done it) to show them....
my current neurologist diangosed me about 2+yrs ago going off of what he felt in my upper back and the extreme sensitivity i had in the areas. he asked me numerous times if i had any issues with my lower back or weakness in my legs, which i didn't.
at least we have a new roadmap, not one i would have chosen but a roadmap never the less....
