Diablo III release date: Feb 1st, 2012?

The text in the image that says "Midnight Release" is crooked compared to the yellow label. Strange signage to have a misspelling and uneven type.

Feb doesn't seem unreasonable though.

It does considering they haven't announced it. I doubt they would just spring a game on people. They'd give at least a months notice, right?

I stood in line, day of release, infront of a shop @1:00 in the morning(night?), when Diablo II released.

I still remember the experiance of buying it, great game.

That said... feb? so fast? have they even done open beta testing, or closed beta testing with more than like a 10level cap of start area?

If this is true,.... I might just skip on giveing free2play Aion a go
(was looking forwards to getting back into Aion though).

Sign looks fake to me also, forced glares, uneven alignment and misspelled. And like someone else mentioned, why would best buy be the only store to know this info?

Anyhow, I have some free DIII copies coming from that 1 year WoW subscription signup, I'm wondering if the "pre-download" caption in my bnet account means I get it before stores do, does anyone know if that is the case?

Exactly, no one, not even Blizzard would give such short notice for a huge game release.

Almost certainly. Other Bliz games are already available for purchase as digital downloads through the Battlenet site. The only question is whether they'll do so at launch. This might've been answered somewhere, but I don't know of it yet.

I'm hoping that is the case. I see a pre-download link in my bnet account (from the wow 1 year subscription deal), but it is grayed out for now. I hope once the game goes live I can just download it.

you should be able to do the digital DL for the game, you could for Starcraft 2 and most of the WoW expansions, i dont see why they would not have it for D3

Online distribution is the way of the future.

In fact if they were gonna push for an online-only release, they'd probably start with Diablo 3.
You need to have constant internet connection anyway. Yes that will piss off the rural dial-up customers, but they arent a big enough user base to get excited over.

In order for it to be released Feb 1st it would have to go gold this week. Also Feb 1st is a Wednesday, games are usually released on Tuesday.

The whole thing is misaligned, the midnight opening isn't even close to centered, and the bottom gamers club text is crooked. And the glares seem randomly placed and too bright. And the edges seem to just fall off without any depths.

Blizzard has now said explicitly that Febuary 1 is not the release date.

As of this morning Blizzard made an offical statement that:
They have no release date as of yet
They will announce to the public as soon as they get a release date
They will try really hard to give us a SEVERAL MONTH advance notice of release date
They are still making major changes to the base game
A Q1 2012 release seems unlikely right now
It will be done when it is done.

I just bitched about how so many mmo's are launching half broken, and get fixed when your paying for your sub. Then people get level cap, figour out game is crap and leave it.

Blizzard isnt like that, it takes its time to do things right.

Oddly enough, I feel like alot of others could learn from that.
Id rather see diablo III come out and be the best game of its kinde, since diablo II.
If blizzard needs time for that, I say let them have it.

Always had an interest in these kinds of games. had D2 and Titans, but never could pllay them. tried several times but just couldnt get into them.
