Look guys. It's obvious Diablo III will NOT be released on Feb 1st. If that was planned, Blizzard would have it on their website, and would post it way, way way in advance.

Diablo III will be released "when it's ready". (f you blizz)

Really? So you've seen it first hand in a BB? How do you explain the VERY uneven alignment at the top, which NO OTHER BB AD has ever had?

The whole thing is misaligned, the midnight opening isn't even close to centered, and the bottom gamers club text is crooked. And the glares seem randomly placed and too bright. And the edges seem to just fall off without any depths.

So basically you guys think it's shopped because a real designer would never have made such simple mistakes in the real poster. Well I think that's hogwash, I believe in the most simplest explanation - it's a rush job their poor underpaid designers had to do. I know this, having seen many pixels of photoshops in my day :p And besides, you're conveniently ignoring the fact that BB confirmed they're real.

Don't believe? Look for yourself with moar pixels:

What I find strange is that (supposedly anyway) it is possible to pre-order the game now at Best Buy, but it's not possible to pre-order it now on Blizzard's own Battle.net site? The only thing I can see when I myself log-in to my own Battle.net account when it comes to Diablo III is "Diablo III® (Coming Soon)" under "Your Game Accounts" and nothing else. I can't pre-order it, I can't do anything else than access the game's official web-site.

If Blizzard indeed had the intention to release Diablo III (even by "surprise") in February we would have almost certainly had heard hints or direct official information about the game going Gold to start with, we're already nearing January's second week. If anything, by now (as of January 10th) we would have at least heard from Blizzard that the Beta test phase would be very near completion. In fact I'm pretty sure that we will have to hear about the Beta being completed before getting any information concerning the actual release date of the final version.

In my mind it's clear that DIII won't come out in February, and that would be too close to Mass Effect 3's release in March which would divert a lot of attention towards it rather than DIII's "unexpectedly soon" release. I might be wrong anyway, time will tell, but I just can't fathom the very possibility that Diablo III ends up released in early 2012, since I have this strong feeling that we won't see this game until summer of this year at the earliest, if not pushed farther away to this year's holidays.

The glare is hiding the year.

The release date is Feb 1st, 2014
The counter is meant to be interpreted as: 25 months 3 Days 16 hours and 14 minutes.

Isn't that obvious?

Well then BB wasted a bunch of money on useless posters because BLIZZARD confirmed there is no date.

Two decades have passed since the demonic lords, Diablo, Mephisto, and Baal, set out across the world of Sanctuary on a vicious rampage, twisting humanity to their unholy will. Yet for those who battled the Prime Evils, the memory fades slowly.

Product Features
When Deckard Cain returns to the ruins of Tristram Cathedral seeking clues to defeat new stirrings of evil, a fiery harbinger of doom falls from the heavens, striking the very ground where Diablo once entered the world. This fire from the sky reawakens ancient evils and calls the heroes of Sanctuary to defend the mortal world against the rising powers of the Burning Hells once again.

Just went to Best Buy in Farmington Hills, MI, no poster like that was up. I would have thought were it a true Blizzard sanctioned release date all the stores would have them.

I'll be pissed though if they delay the release just for stupid Mass Effect 3 (I'm sure Bliz would never admit to altering release dates solely due to the competition). There will always be some Big New Title (tm) being released around the same time of any given product and if they are always going to wait each time this game will never come out.

edit: checked out the full-size picture. If it is real I would like to see what the fine print actually says in the lower left corner. Probably something like "...in no way is this release date valid. Sorry, kid..."

It's fake. Why would you take a pic with a glare spot conveniently over the most important part of the picture? It's obvious this was shopped.

and about the preorders BB vs Blizz ive had mine preordered on amazon for about 6 months. it said 12/31/11 until 1/1/12 where it changed to 12/31/12, which is simply the placeholder date

Diablo 1 on the PlayStation wasn't that bad, had pretty good co-op support as wsell.

There they finished the game and then ported it to console. Here they're going to take a game that's 3/4s done and modify it for consoles; potentially a big difference.

And besides, you're conveniently ignoring the fact that BB confirmed they're real.

1 girl questioned on the phone said that something had existed similar to the description given. She is only one confirming this. She probably had no idea what the person was actually asking about. I get incorrect responses calling about stock, which they can actually look up lol.

She was a female.best buy.employee. Think about it ;)

I know if this sign was in my best buy, even for 2 hours, there would be a crowd of people uploading the picture, not just 1.

[edit] Actually, unless Joystiq is making shit up now, they said that the kid uploaded 2 pictures of it to chattyimages, but no one seems to have the URL to the second. They also said that the manager confirmed that Best Buy made the sign, Blizzard had nothing to do with it. The sign was later pulled because the BB store's general manager stated that Blizzard had not been firm on the release date. So now individual stores make their own signage? Seems very inefficient.

Is joystiq known to make stories up? Because the whole thing still sounds fake to me. Why would Best Buy go through all of this, just to pull it down because Blizzard never gave them a firm date? And the sign still looks fake to me.

Nice diversionary tactic, trying to get me into thinking whether a hot female employee is hot :colbert:. Of course I'm not questioning the hotness of said female employee, it's a given you know - hot is hot. No second guessing that. The only way for a hot female to not be hot, is if they try hard to conceal their hotness. But that is easier said than done, you can't hide quality hotness.

Obviously Bliz never released a date of any kind, we all know that. They mentioned that some/most parts of the game had yet to be polished. So why the effort & bother to create a sign by BB? They want to reach into your pants man, get the goodies, & give you pat on the back!

And the sign still looks fake to me.
Are you questioning my fantastic skills?

If D3 is coming out on consoles, then how is the "real-world money auction house" going to work?

Uh...what?

Where was there any mention of her appearance?
