BAH ! I got several accounts with bunch lvl 90s w/ stormshields, eaglehorns, shakos, and what not, the good stuff and what not.....BAHHHHHH WHY !!!!!

I quit because I need to be serious in college, gave most of the stuff to my online pals...I missed the good old days. That game really suck the life out of me :p

But now, I'm sticking with FPS (which is less addicting ;) )

I hear you..... I used to be SO addicted to that game. The first day it came out I didn't get any sleep... LOL. I sold all my accounts on ebay for a fairly high price while it was hot. I started another account a few months ago... when I was on cable in NY. Now I'm in FL for school and have crap internet :\ But it was definitly a good game...... I miss it :(

Man...People know when they tried the game. The reason it is really addicting to me is the competition and also the community around it...

Same as for WoW (never played it)...I'm not touching MMORPGs for a long time or forever (maybe)

Diablo is what started it though imo, I will never play WoW. Waiting for Diablo 3 if that ever happens.... who knows.

Ex-LoD player.

Imbalance moved the game from 1.07 to 1.08 and 1.09.

Hackers ruined 1.09 and gave us 1.10. I hated 1.10 and they gave us 1.11 which doesnt offer much over 1.10.

I liked some of the ideas they put in but they made some things overpowered and really nerfed some good things. Adding Oblivion Knights nearly everywhere killed melee for me. They could have put in nearly anything bar Iron Maiden casters and id have probably been sort of happy.

Waiting for Diablo3 or the next addictive D2 clone.

Think D3 will ever happen? I have a feeling it will, but I also have a feeling there will be a monthly fee.... like every other damn game out there now. FPS is the way to go atm

I played Diablo II for a while, but never really got into the upper end items, PvP or trading so much.

I was more interested in playing different builds (some regular, some really odd... like the paladin who only used bows), and co-op play. I setup an all Paladin group with 8 pallies who all had different auras to specialize in and such. We got together and played once a week. I think I played 1.0 --> 1.07 or so.

I still play. Granted, I bought it when 1.10 was already out so I haven't had it as long as many of you, but it's still a very fun game.

I'm playing D2, but haven't had lots of time so only around level 30 per character.

I'll probably checkout Hellgate: London, or whatever it's called :)

Does anyone know how long you can be inactive on an account before it gets deleted? I don't want my account to get deleted.... so I'll just leave D2 run when I'm at class or something.... how long?

I'm pretty sure that your account itself never gets deleted. However, individual characters become "expired" (read: deleted) when you haven't played them for 3 months. Just log on that character before it expires, and you have another 3 months before it expires.

However, when you make a new character, instead of the 3 month timeframe, there is a 10 days timeframe. In order to make it 3 months, you have to play that character for something like two hours.

In short, you should have no trouble if you play with any sort of regularity. Three months is a long time.

Actually.... it is a long time, but 2 years is a longer time lol. I moved to florida for college to take 2 years down here, then going back up to NY for another 2 years. I didnt know I would have sh*tty internet here, but it's too late now. I had to quit playing games.... until I move back. But I can still log on my account and all for D2.... so Ill just leave it sit for 2 hours sometime. But I have a feeling in 2 years, something better will be out... and SHOULD be out, lol.

diablo is not a mmorpg

goddamit.

It is a mmorpg...

No its a hack and slash game...

Also, to all those who said they were relving in the 1.07 days, I guess you had fun during the 2 days 1.07 was out. 1.08 came out the day of the release, and 1.07 was only existant online in the 2-3 days before the expansion release.

Ow ya, I played, started many accounts, was godly, then gave the items to an olnine friend, which he sold for like 200 dollars.

Me=stupid lol.

IMO, blizzard will not release Diablo3 until WoW is hurting, because they don't want to make a competing product. Thats too bad too. They came up with 2 warcraft games, and still havent come up with 1 starcraft/diablo game since 3d acceleration was introduced in a large scale.

1.09 was a nice patch. Everything was still way too easy but all-round, the characters were quite nicely balanced and I could have loads of fun with my characters.

If they made 1.09 with the monsters just more powerful, Id probably have ended up happy. ITHs on Europe, those hilarious White rings on US servers.... just killed the fun in 1.09 eventually. Not even whacking out a PvP char to take down the idiot hackers i saw would have gave me enjoyment.

My most memorable achievement in my eyes in 1.09 was solo'ing Baal at level 67 with my Maul Barb without dieing. Wasnt awesomely equipped aside from a 293% Cruel Thunder Maul and he took maybe 6-7 minutes to do it. Even my lvl 7x frenzy MF babr took about 4 minutes per run.

Diablo2 cannot be classed as an MMORPG. 8 players is NOT MASSIVE. You can have RTS multiplayer games as big as the biggest Diablo2 game. Guildwars has up to 20? players per game and thats not an MMO, so how can Diablo2 be?

What a great time. It used to piss my gf off. She would come over, I would be sitting in the living room, my roommate in his bedroom and we would yell back and forth and play for hours at a time.

No, 1.09 killed the orb sorceresses. All those happy fast cast spamming orb days went the way of the dodo. The brought in cooldown but never increased the damage on the orb to make it a worthwhile. In the post-LoD days Orb was the only thing that cut through the full res full armor days. Though I think firewall got bumped up a bit, it was never in the same league as orb for pvp action.

The game in the 1.09 era turned into a big dupe/farm fest. I ended up giving away my account to a friend, which included the .07-.08?(pre-class specific bonuses) arkaines a ton fo the best weapons, and as many run charms as I could fit in my inventory.

I think I fought him with my uber gear. My pike barb versus his doomslayer/shield barb and got roasted. Rather than rebuild the character I just gave him the account. :)

Firewall was nerfed in the 1.09 patch iirc and Orb was still the best Sorc damage skill in 1.09.

PvP never thrilled me although back then I was on a 56k modem and Bnet was awful.

The only reason it was any good was cold mastery. If it was more damage like fire mastery, it would have been just as useless with everyone using capped res gear. Firewall did get nerfed in duration and how many you could put out. the damage got bumped up though. It was due to the fact the people with lower end video cards would get locked up when people were spamming certain powers like orb, firewall, and blizzard.

I still remember pulling out the orb sorc for some pvp and my first shako/stormshield geared fight. I think I lasted about 5 seconds, before a near full health sorc teleported away from my corpse. They just went overboard with the gear. The class specific stuff was worthless as you could rarely get a full set, and the stats were junk. Except for the +magic find gear elite uniques were vastly overpowered compared to everything else.

If anyone wants to breeze through the game, a javazon or lightning bolt sorc are the two fastest things out there. I went with a lightning bolt sorc, which is fairly decent even early on, due to the fact you could spam LB. Once you start to get into lightning mastery you can serious flood your screen with lightning bolts for a trival mana cost.

You can easily mow down the cow herds in a few shots once you start to cap on lightning mastery. The bolts get so thick it's just a white blob jiggle on the ground until it gets about halfway out and starts to spread. If you are quick, the first few squares in front of your character get all the bolts dropped on them before they move outward. So if you can manuever yourself to be a few squares out from a tough enemy you can lay down the hurt in a short order.

Fast cast, teleport, max LB+LM, Max Orb+CM = an evil sorc
