I thought UPS bought their US operations out or something? That may have something to do with it.

all makes sense to me

What that graphic neglects to divulge is that each stop along the USPS route takes a day, so you're looking at 5-6 days transit time, whereas with DHL, it sits in their facility for a week, gets re-routed to the wrong distribution center, sits there for a week, goes back to the initial distribution center, sits there for a week, and then gets to the USPS facility.

Hah, yeah I know. I pulled that graphic from an invoice. I ordered a tube of grease from NE and it took almost 2 weeks to ship from cali to here. Total mess of a system.

Good news everyone! My package is no longer in the same state I live in! DHL has shipped it to Maryland.

Let me guess OP chose the cheapest shipping option and now regrets it.

How much does the postal service charge to mail a thumbdrive? At least use that and not DHL. Took my package 9 days to make it from Memphis to Nashville. DHL can't offer that much of a savings over USPS... not enough to cover the cost of pissed off customers going elsewhere.

Ha... I just shipped a package to Asia from San Diego and the package is currently in Cincinnati, Ohio. What a waste of fuel.

LOL...it's Jersey, not California.

Boo-hoo, you dont get your free 1-day shipping on an order.

When it costs an Arm, Leg or Sexual Favor for one-day shipping, You should get it in one day.

Edit: I just re-read the OP. It doesn't specify whether or not he used DHL's one-day service. :hmm: (If they even have one, LOL)

DHL is absolute garbage, and I will never willingly use them. I ordered a hard drive one time (possibly from NewEgg but I forget) and I sat in the living room so I could hear the door when it got here. No one ever knocked so I checked online and it said delivered. I go outside and the damn package is under a rock by my front door.

Fuck off, DHL.

Response from Newegg after I sent them my rant:

I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We at Newegg take all criticism as constructive so that we can use any useful suggestions to better our business practices and ourselves. I have forwarded your thoughts to upper management to review. They will share your input with the appropriate parties who will in turn take any action required to remedy the issue, if they deem it necessary.

Protip: if you are in a hurry to get your stuff, don't order the cheapest shipping method.

DHL is only for Newegg's egg saver shipping and there is a thread bitching about it roughly every month where OP complains about how long free shipping takes.

I guess reading comprehension was not your strong point and overestimated your intelligence. Let me put it this way hopefully you can understand it regardless in the price of shipping....

Straight line = good
squiggly line = bad.

Shipping from Central Jersey to South Jersey is a straight line (which is good)

Shipping from Central Jersey to North Jersey, Maryland, and god knows where and have it end up in South Jersey is a Squiggly line (Very BAD)

DHL is an option I will never use again either. I also get my newegg 1 day to CT from the NJ facility. The one time I tried the DHL service and it took 7 days as it went past CT to Boston then slowly made it's way back here.

Different shipping companies have different distribution centers. They are not going to ship something to you based on convenience to the customer. They are going to ship something to you based on their lowest cost and still meet the delivery timeframe required.

I'm not saying DHL is awesome or am I defending them. I'm just saying that even though it might not make sense to you, it may actually be cheaper for them to go through all those hoops.

What's cheaper? Paying someone to ship a package from A to B. OR?

Paying someone to ship the package from A, to C, to E, to F, and finally to B?

You're paying a lot more for someone's salary and fuel expense sending it all over the country. Yes country because they apparently sent the package out of the state. LOL.

Oh I get it. they're doing it this way to justify the increase in prices to ship things by blaming it on salary cost & fuel cost. Salary + Fuel cost of them paying someone to circle jerk the package for a couple of days before delivering it to you.

i posted a thread about this back in 09. i just recently ordered a fan controller from newegg and it did the same damn thing. i live in philly suburbs, they shoulda just sent the damn thing USPS Parcel post or something. at least it would go from North Jersey -> PA. instead my package is in maryland again. What's Newegg's business model for using DHL over USPS?
