Here's the situation: I bought the 3007 Dell monitor and it came with 5 dead pixels, I called Dell and they sent out a replacement. Naturally, I had to send back the defective unit.
The replacement came with a pre-paid DHL airbill label. A few days ago, I remember telling my roommate that I had to mail the monitor back and I waved the airbill label around and said, "Yeah the DHL guy would have to sign this otherwise they can screw me. That's why I haven't peeled it off and stuck it to the box yet." So he heard me when I said that.
Yesterday, I came home 15 minutes late (something came up at work) and I saw that the monitor wasn't there anymore. However, I saw the DHL airbill still on the counter. So I'm like omfg how is this possible?
I went and spoke to my roommate. He said that the DHL courier came by and he just gave him the package, assuming that I already put the airbill label on there (remember a few days ago when I waved the airbill around?).
So my roommate asked no questions, asked for no signature and just handed the package to the courier. I find out that the courier (thinking that he is some genius), takes the liberty to fill out an airbill on my behalf and put the Texas address which he saw on the box (it came from the wearhouse in Texas). However, the pre-paid airbill shows Kentucky!!!
I guess it was partially my fault. But if my roommate wasn't sure about it, he could have called me. Instead, he just assumed and took this matter so non-chalantly. I would have preferred if he sent the DHL guy on his way without picking up the package. He made a decision to help me take care of it but he did a half-assed job.
Do I have a right to be pissed off? I called DHL and they said once it arrives in Texas, they will have the package sent back to my address, I will call again to bitch at them to make sure it's done. I am not going to pay for a monitor I didn't keep because two people didn't take a minute to use their brain!! I am so pissed off I haven't eaten since lunch of yesterday.
Edit: I didn't ask my roommate to help. He volunteered without my knowledge.
