Hmm, I'm a little worried. One of the main writers/producers of the show left after Season 2 and the 1st episode of Season 3 didn't feel quite up to the previous seasons. I'll keep watching, of course, but I hope this isn't the beginning of a downward slide in quality.

I thought season one was the better of the first two. Season 2 was to much like a soap opera...IMO. The first episode of season 3 reminds me a bit of the writing and directing of season one. Jimmy Smits is an awesome addition.

I'm about halfway thru the third book and yeah, it's getting pretty silly. I liked the first 2 a lot more. But, I think that the series is actually better than the books. The books give you a little more insight on Dexter (and how he thinks), but the series has better storylines.

I finished the third book. If you like the series, don't read the third book. It's terrible and completely ridiculous. It pretty much destroys the entire series.

Stick with the show, much much better.
