I'll watch the last season. Wonder does he retire to another state with his love or he gets throw in prison for the rest of his life.

It's terrible that his sister got involved. Everything was good until she brought all her morals into the picture. Now, because of her, we're into the final season...

Since Dexter is the POV in the series, I imagine he's alive at the end.

I don't.

There's something odd about having a serial killer win, even if he's portrayed as the hero of the series. Since he can't be cured I think he's got to die in the end. Probably in some suitably noble fashion where he simultaneously takes out another killer to save a busload of orphans and puppies.

It's been pretty interesting what has gone on throughout the series. But I must say they have been stretching it out with him not being as careful or methodical as he once was. Now it seems like he's just like any other serial killer, taking huge risks and just by dumb luck not getting caught, well except for the last season. Just doesn't seem really believable.

Last season was the best although the ending was very predictable

Really curious how they will handle the whole Deb thing

IMO he has to die or be taken away in handcuffs in the end. Anything else will be unacceptable.

He dies in the end...

but after the credits we see him lying on a couch talking and he looks over at the person who he has been narrating the past 8 seasons to.

Jesus tells him "You're a real cool dude Dexter, sacrificing your life to save Debra gave me enough pull with Dad not to have you sent to that other place... anyway don't worry about your kid I'll make sure he doesn't get caught. Don't tell pops though."

Then Jesus nods to something behind Dexter and he turns around to see his father and mother they come up and hug him.

The End. :p

Wow, pleasantly surprised by the season premiere. This show has been in a rut for a couple of seasons but this left me optimistic for the next 11 episodes.

Wasn't impressed with the premiere episode.

Until the last 60 seconds. Now it's looking like it could be a return to form.

I agree - that was interesting.

Unfortunately the show has been really disappointing the last couple of years - hopefully it can finish strong. Overall I think the Lithgow season was the only one that really approached the level of the strongest serialized dramas, like Breaking Bad or Mad Men, but I do enjoy the show in general.

I thought season 6 was fairly weak, but "weak" is a relative term. Even the worst episode of Dexter is still better than 99.9% of the dreck on TV. I also really enjoyed last season, primarily because of the performance from Ray Stevenson. He made season 7.

I agree that Dexter is no equal of Breaking Bad though. August 11th can't come soon enough.

On a related note, I thought Ray Donovan was really disappointing, given all the hype Showtime has given it, and the strength of the cast. It manages to already feel tired, one episode in.
