Wasting school time and resources focusing on teaching kids what to think instead of how to think. Focus on SJW crap instead of the core important things that need to be taught in schools. That stuff needs to go, but that's not going to happen unless there's a big shakeup in the system first.

I'll tell you what one of my local elementaries has time for, though. A big pro-military propaganda ritual, complete with the student body memorizing and singing hymn-like songs praising people for being willing to hire on with the government to blow people up.

Funny, many courts have chimed in on this and have not found it unconstitutional.... including the SCOTUS (Zelman v Simmons-Harris). Of course that's not a blanket statement about all vouchers, but your blanket statement about using taxpayer money to fund religious education is flagrantly unconstitutional is clearly wrong.

I'm well aware of Zelman, and have read the opinion. It was a 5-4 decision of the SCOTUS in which the conservative majority voted one way and liberal minority voted the other. I strongly disagree with the majority opinion.

It may surprise you to know that if Trump loses his travel ban case, it's still OK for you to be of the opinion that Trump was correct on the law. We have to respect and abide by court decisions. We don't have to agree with them.

Personally I think his statements are very incriminating and the SCOTUS will require such bans to have evidence of merit and efficacy similarly to their findings against the state of texas in terms of the series of harsh laws passed to meritlessly restrict and effectively ban abortion in the state.

In inner cities such as Milwaukee, there is a significant issue in education and it has little to do with anything other than parenting. Some kids are violent and disruptive. In public schools, it is nearly impossible to remove these kids from public schools unless they violently attack a teacher. Even then, they are simply shuffled to another public school which has to take them. Go into any MPS school where the kids are running around, talking loudly, ignoring the teacher, etc... and tell me how this can ever work. It is one thing if a kid does poorly, it is another thing when that kid actively inhibits the learning process for the rest of the students. The problem is cultural, entrenched and worsening. This is why private schools look so good in comparison. They simply kick the disruptive and poorly performing students out. The inner city public school are thus filled with the absolute worst behaving kids in the state.

There is no possible solution. Our society will eventually fall as this malaise spreads and eventually crumbles the entire infrastructure. I figure I will be dead by the time it happens but I imagine my grandkids will be around to see America fall back into 3rd world conditions. Asia is the future, they haven't been poisoned yet. They may be the only hope for humanity's long term survival.

Speaking as someone with several "STEM" degrees, that's a rather myopic view of what should be taught in school. STEM subjects are important, but so are subjects like English and history. These subjects also help develop critical thinking, writing, and communication skills. And there is the secondary benefit of these subjects enriching our lives while exploring the human condition. STEM isn't the be-all-end-all some people like to claim it is.

Also speaking as someone with a few STEM degrees ... totally agreed. Culture is equally important, including language, history, and the arts.
