Wow that actually looks awful.

Pause @ 1:19 when he stands up and its like his hair is made out of cardboard with how it flows off the back.

Not to mention its flapping around while indoors more than Lara's in a blizzard:

Sorry but hairworks vs purehair, purehair looks much better and has less performance hit. See the above two videos

Like I said above, that video was taken shortly after launch. Those issues, especially with the hair physics were eventually patched out.

I do agree though that the particular hairstyle in that video looks awful on Geralt. The dramatically reduced hair physics is likely a concession that had to be made for performance reasons, since that haircut is free flowing.

Interesting video. Looks like the GTX 780 Ti is keeping pace with the GTX 970, RX 480, and GTX 1060 with these settings. Looks like Kepler still got some life left in her...

Rx 480 is killing the 780 Ti in most reviews which benchmark actual gameplay. In fact Rx 480 OC beats GTX 980 OC and GTX 1060 OC.

btw all of these are actual gameplay and not the canned in game benchmark.

Maybe I didn't look hard enough, but I don't see a 780 Ti in any of your links. The Youtuber I linked also does not use the canned benchmark, and you can see the game settings and RTSS OSD for yourself. The 780 Ti still hangs at these settings.

yeah you did not look properly. pcgameshardware shows rx 480 nitro is 25% faster than a GTX 780 Ti Phantom boosting to 1100 Mhz. the purepc benchmarks show a Rx 480 beating 780 Ghz by 40-45%. 780 Ti Ghz would land right in between those 2 cards and be roughly 20% slower than Rx 480 and around 30% slower than a custom Rx 480 OC.

Could someone explain to me why this game runs so badly on everything? It doesn't look good enough to justify the massive hardware requirements, IMO.

Battlefront and Doom are the best examples of performance-per-visuals, if there ever was such a measurement (purely subjective). Lots of Ubisoft games are low on that measurement, I think. Square Enix is hit and miss. ROTTR is a bit too demanding imo, but at least it looks stunning.

I'm sure a mature DX12 codepath will have a much better performance profile than launch date DX11. On a new engine like this, I doubt we'll see finalized performance until 6 months out. That just seems to be the nature of gaming these days, that you need to wait 6 months to see the real final version.

You're right, I see it now. It's odd, because in the PCGH article The 1100MHz 780 Ti keeps pace with the 970 and 1060, yet the 480 is 25% faster as you said.

Even fo4 does not (actually looks worse ).

FO 4 gets bad rap, but I personally think the game is beautiful, although some textures are downright terrible. Adding an ENB changes the look completely.

Outside it is beautiful on average but inside just cartoon-ish(sorry) . Deus Ex is much better looking both Inside and outside with better PBR and GI and wind effects.

I think that is from in game benchmark but not from a gameplay. In gameplay GTX 1060 is very close with RX 480.

How We Tested

Naturally we have not had time to play the game from start to finish, it’s only been out 24 hours. What we have done however is played through the complete first level of the game through the entire Dubai area from the beginning to the point where you have to disable the helicopter from taking off. We actually found these areas to be very intense graphically speaking, bringing framerates down into the 20’s in some areas. This area did seem to be very demanding. Our run-through starts at the beginning of the game and goes all the way to the start of the cut-scene in the large atrium with the helicopter landing. This covers a great deal of area in the map.

guru3d has updated benchmark with DX12 preliminary results for few cards. looks good for AMD cards. R9 390X and Fury X see big gains at 1080p and slight gains at 1440p. Rx 480 sees smaller gains. Nvidia cards as usual see similar or slight regression in performance.

http://www.guru3d.com/articles_page..._graphics_performance_benchmark_review,8.html

guru3d uses in game benchmark. I would like to see results from sites like hardocp , purepc and computerbase, pcgameshardware as they do actual gameplay testing.
