The rules have changed.

The revised crease rule is intended to implement a "no harm, no foul, no video review" standard. The rule is based on the premise that an attacking player's position, whether inside or outside the crease, should not, by itself, determine whether a goal should be allowed or disallowed - i.e., goals scored while attacking players are standing in the crease may, in appropriate circumstances be allowed. Goals should be disallowed only if: (1) an attacking player, either by his positioning or by contact, impairs the goalkeeper's ability to move freely within his crease or defend his goal; or (2) an attacking player initiates more than incidental contact with a goalkeeper, inside or outside of his goal crease. Incidental contact with a goalkeeper will be permitted, and resulting goals allowed, when such contact is initiated outside of the goal crease, provided the attacking player has made a reasonable effort to avoid such contact. The rule will be enforced exclusively in accordance with the on-ice judgement of the Referee(s), and not by means of video replay or review.
 
The Red Wings were due for a down game and Dallas really gave their best effort of the series. Nothing really went Detroit's way tonight.

Blaming the officials is so lame. The Wings will win this series and go to the Stanley Cup Finals. Tonight only postponed the inevitable.

Hmm, Maybe they did it to win the series in the Joe.

Anyways I find it laughable that Wings fans posted on the Stars board and made fun of Stars fans for calling BS on some of the Ref's calls, but as soon as it stops going the Wings way, the Wings fans start crying, just like every other team that thinks it was wronged. So far out of 4 games, the refs have called 3 games in favor of the Wings and 1 in favor of the Stars.
All of the goals and no-goal calls I can live with, the one thing the Refs have done in the series that royally pisses me off, is on a face off, Modano got kicked out, and Riberio came in to take the face off. The ref was giving him "the talk" and dropped the puck for the face off before he let Riberio get in position to take the face off.

Need a STARS win on Saturday so my buddy can sell his last set of season tickets for the AA Center - Game 6.

Speaking of Saturday, maybe we'll get some half-decent announcing. I use to make fun of the NBC hockey announcers, but VS guys have taken things to an all new low. I've never seen such terrible analysis sprinkled with the most boring off-topic chatter ever.

VS is terrible. It would at least be tolerable if I could get it in HD but I'm stuck with VS in SD. 🙁
 
They have to give Carter more icetime than he's getting. That guy is explosive - I mean, nice hands on that goal and all that, but the way he was skating before he scored, you just knew he was going to make good as soon as he got a decent shift. Philly's flyin' tonight!!
 
flyers forwards finally showed up for a game.

If and its a big if, some of these guys can show up consistently from here on out maybe at least they will make a competitive series out of it. Pittsburgh really had their way defensively with them in the first three games.

All of the forwards, except maybe Richards this season way too streaky.
 
Well it's just like Grapes said, all they have to do is win tonight and win a game in Pittsburgh, then they're back home. /hockey cliche 😛
 
maintaining this level of desperation is tough and I doubt Pittsburgh will sit back on their heels in game 6 at home.

Hell, maintaining it for the remainder of the third period of this game would be enough for me.

3-2 and Pittsburgh is pushing the play now.

whew......now at least there will be something good on tv on Sunday.

Is it jsut me or is the whole versus network pro flyers to the point its disgusting?

It seems like all the PBP announcers, intermission, & even the commercials are all philly crap...

I dont know...could it be something that Comcast owns Versus... and is one of the Major flyers sponsers??? Is that a comcast emblem on the flyers ice at center?


Its one thing for local stations to be biased... but a national network should be impartial... neither ESPN, NBC, nor Fox sports is ever this disgusting.



I hope that NHL drops its contract with versus...4ever.

Its possible it looks that way tonight, Jones is one of the guys in studio and he is a former flyer though he did not play long in orange because by the time we got him his knees were pretty much jello.

I think they tend talk up more about the team that is winning at the moment, I would venture to say that in games 1-3 you could probably have said the announcers were pro pittsburgh.

Better on versus than not on at all. Unfortunately we need to take what we can get.

The Flyers (to me) rank 3rd in my hate list behind:
1) Alabama Crimson Tide
2) University of Michigan
