Verus rant:

Man, I'm getting sick of watching these games on versus, they're terrible.

For example game 3 wing vs stars.
I just loved how they felt the need to hunt down some cage fighter dude at the game in the audience and interview him midway into the 3rd period while the game is being played and not like at a postgame show, intermission, or commercial break.

or how they feel the need to show the goal replays like 20 times per period, just show the replays of the ones that happened in that period and recap the others during intermission and post game.

or when they feel the need to talk about a players stats during game play that they must show a huge ass display that takes up 1/3 of the screen. Once again, this is what pregame, intermission, and postgame is for.

or when the period is coming to a close they need to tell you what is coming up during intermission they decided to fill up 3/4ths the game with the dude at the desk talking and versus related crap everywhere while the game is being played. Again just place a small window at the bottom when you come back from commercial break (you know when their showing the sponsors and those arena shots for like 10 seconds) or right when the period ends right before they go to a commercial break.

I hope next year ESPN, FSN, NBC, or anyone but versus picks up a contract to air games.

Another thing, what the hell is with interviewing the coaches during the game and interviewing players during intermission. The intermission interviews I can live with but interviewing a coach during the period? What the fuck is with that?

Probably to be like FSN detriot. Which usually right after a commercial time out(and before the puck drops) larry murphy would talk with one of players for a few seconds. So my guess it's something like that. I don't know how other FSN broadcasters are though. I think NBC does a similar thing too.

I guess. If it were me as coach there's no way in hell a reporter is coming to the bench to speak with me or my players. Wait until intermission or the end of the game.

Versus really blows. I guess any hockey on TV is better than no hockey but I would think someone can do better than this.

I think too much of it is they try to dumb things down for the casual fan...Hello Versus, guess what casual fans don't watch hockey!

Yeah I can see the talking with the coach mid game being annoying but larry murphy and the players was a little bit inevitable. I mean he stands in a tiny box between the two player benches so he would be able to just lean over slightly and talk with the players. I remember one game where Aaron Downey and ...some guys I forgot were chirping at each other and he was talking to aaron downey about it.

Versus really blows. I guess any hockey on TV is better than no hockey but I would think someone can do better than this.

Indeed, the sad thing is most cable companies you have to pay extra money for the channel and it's mediocre broadcasting.

I'm just glad I live in Metro Detroit and we pick up CBC for hockey. Anything would be better than a VS broadcast but CBC just makes them look sad. Totally night & day.

They started doing that after the strike year...to help fans get "more into the game". It was one of the changes they made (they being the NHL) to try and get more in depth during the game. I think it's pretty ridiculous myself, but whatever they gotta do. They also talk to some of the players during the game (during the tv timeouts). They always say the same shit...so it's pretty pointless.

It's all to appeal to the casual fan. But as someone already stated, there are no casual fans in hockey (not many anyway).

I'm just happy to have hockey on TV. I rarely pay attention to the crap they do, or the announcers. I'm too busy engrossed in the game. :)

Should have been 4 with McCarty playing the puck with a broken stick. I just think Dallas played their best period and Detroit was caught a little flatfooted along with Dallas deciding to not goon it up.

I'm not one to whine, but the Wings are getting the shaft right up the ass from the refs in this one.

I have no problem with the dallas goal, but I have no idea how they could wave off that detroit goal.

I do have a beef with the dallas goal because osgood would have been able to get his stick/hand on it before it went across the line if stars player wasn't standing in the crease and putting it in.

Ozzy didn't have position on the puck though. I have no problem with the Dallas goal.

3rd period coming up. Ozzy stands on his head this period. Shorter shift changes works in our (Wings) favor guys. Just KEEP THE FAITH BROTHERS AND SISTERS!

:gift: Here you go Dallas

Pretty much a bullcrap call on that penalty to Rafs

New drinking game. Whenever Doc mentions that the people are standing, you drink.

Heh, game 5 upcoming i'd say.

Wings weren't in this for the first half of the game, & then they got screwed by the called back goal.

Well played 3rd by Dallas thus far.
