the pistons have the best record in the NBA and it's no stretch to call them the best team right now. it's not hype. the statistics show that the pistons have won the most in the NBA. how is that over hype?
funny because Detroit built around them and look where they are now. remind me never to hire you as an NBA GM.
a MAJORITY of the coaches in the east are saying it. i guess they're on crack. hans007 is the only logical one here, guys. he's got so much more credibility than NBA coaches who DID choose Rasheed over Dwight and Rip over Arenas.
DON'T get me wrong. Arenas and Howard are studs and are young. no one's saying they're without tons of talent. but all-star snubs happen every year.

that doesnt mean anything...the nba is so messed up in certain things. the allstars should be based just on stats...what the fvck does it have to do with how the team is doing. It is an individual accomplisment. Its the only time that individual achievement comes above team achievement. I don't want to see rip taking 18 footers in the allstar game nor do i want to see rasheed take 6 3's. I wanna see vince throw down, I want see ridiculous stuff that doesnt happen in a game. THere is something in the NBA for good teams and team players...its called the playoffs. leave this sh1t for the playoffs and let the best players run the allstar weekend
anyway i like the pistons and it'll be real interesting how the end of the season turns out.

A few items...
Stop defending Piston losses with "it was their 3rd game in 4 nights", or "last game of a roadtrip". The Pistons are the best team in the NBA - they are not going to win every game, however, and you don't need to find excuses for their losses, nothing to be defensive about when they lose a game.
Rasheed Wallace is not having an all-star season by any standard. I'm not saying he's not a good player, I'm simply saying that he's not having a great season at all. Someone said earlier that Rip Hamilton shouldn't be an all-star, that he's an overrated player - that person should not be allowed to watch another NBA game, or post about the NBA on this forum. He's the best jump shooter in the league, probably the best conditioned athlete in the NBA, and a tough defender as well. B.Wallace and Billups are also shoo-ins for the All-star team this year.
Dallas is pretty good - this isn't the same no-D Dallas team that we've seen in past years, and their depth and versatility are going to cause problems for anyone they face in the playoffs this year, West or East.
The Suns only hope is that Amare comes back 100%, which I don't think is likely. They have no post defense at all without him and have no chance of beating SA without Amare.
I'm not sold on the West dominance against the East though. After SA, Dallas, and the Suns, no one in the West is overly impressive. In the East you have the Pistons, Heat, Cavs, and Nets - and despite the Cavs & Nets records being less than the Suns' record, head to head I don't see a lot of difference in the quality of those teams.
I think the difference is more at the bottom of the standings - the bad teams in the East - DO YOU HEAR ME KNICK FANBOIS? are much worse than the bad teams in the West, but I'm not sure you can tell me how great the West is when the Hornets are a playoff team in the West, and I don't think they are any better than the Boston/Chicago/Milwaukee/Wizards in the East, and I'd say pretty much the same for the Grizzlies (congrats to Gasol on the All-star team, he's tough) and the Jazz/Lakers teams that are fighting for playoff spots.

look at this percentages. granted, Rip's been getting his share of layups with Flip's more open offense, his %'s are gaudy: 49.9% FG, 44.6% 3pt, 86.5% FT. shooting 50% at the 2-guard position is phenomenal. only Tony Parker trumps that with an unbelievable 55%FG shooting. but TP can't touch Rip's 3pt and FT percentages.
one could make arugment that he might be the best all around shooter in the NBA.

as a pistons fan, the mavs honestly scare me more than the Spurs do right now. the last few times the spurs and pistons played, the spurs looked "old". the mavs are so athletic, young, deep, and now they play some good defense. if they get hot in the playoffs, i wouldn't bet against them making their first Finals appearance.

Poor argument. All-Star starters are voted in by the fans as they are the ones that are the most popular. That's the very essence of the All-Star game.
Notwithstanding this obvious fact, you're comparing two completely different positions in two different conferences. You should be angered by the fact that players like Hamilton were voted in over Arenas.
For the sake of argument, who would you vote in to the All-Star game over Yao and why?

Of the 3 or 4 best teams in the league, the Pistons are number 1 right now regardless of recent losses.
All teams go through some sort of slumpt during a season. I am a spurs fan and I watched them play 2 injury riddled games against the pistons. Losing both. If you are a basketball fan you know that. Could the spurs beat them at full strength, probably. However Ginobli isn't playing very well this season, so someone has to make up for that lack of output.
Dallas is overrated. I said it, and I meant it. They can go hot or cold and when they are hot... damn, but when they are cold.... DAMN!
I think the east has a better chance of having another team come through than the west. Right now, Kobe can score 50 and lose, phoenix isn't even competetive with the big leaguers, and the rest of the field is weak. San Antonio vs. Dallas in the 2nd round of the playoffs may decide the west. In the east, hopefully miami can play together to give the Pistons a run for their money.
