Here they put a device in the line that restricts water delivery to about a quarter of a gallon per hour. They can whine all they want but they still have access haha. If the dead beat with the restriction thinks they can just live that way, after 6 months they have other options such as condemning the property and/or auctioning it off.

Make no mistake if the person owing the bill doesn't try to get the help that is available then they are a dead beat.

Thats a pretty good idea.

No matter what no American should be without fucking water. 1/2 gallon an hour is fine.

I do not mind paying taxes as long as those taxes go to the collective good.

Health care, roads, bridges, infrastructure,,,,, stuff that all of society can benefit from.

Paying someones water bill is not my responsibility.

It can be successfully argued that having access to potable water is of a benefit to the collective good. Society benefits health-wise from all it's citizens having a fresh and safe water supply, and that's just one benefit.

Lets socialize water districts.

There is no reason why some people get free water while others have to pay.

Society also benefits by not allowing 100,000s of people thinking they can be freeloaders and essentially use themselves as hostages to extort water they refuse to pay for.

Yea, saying democrats are looking for handouts is like saying the sky is blue. It is stating the obvious.

I work my ass off everyday, and take care of a mentally disabled loved one.. so please, tell me again how it is I am looking for a handout?

Daughter wants expensive and unnecessary birth control operation? Government should pay for it.

People want water? Screw them.

Where I live that's already the case; our water isn't metered and we pay the same no matter how much we use. We're already paying for other peoples swimming pools, hot tubs, etc.

Excellent, forgot about that one.

So TH, does your son-in-law have teh AIDS or pinworms from anal sex yet cause your daughter wanted to have sex but didn't want to pay for the unnecessary birth control operation?

From Aljazeera:
Detroit activists call for UN help as city shuts off water for thousands
Detroit has too much of some things – stray dogs, abandoned houses – and not enough of others, such as residents who pay their water bills...

Nearly 50 percent of DWSD’s 323,000 accounts were behind on payments as of March, according to the Detroit Free Press. That’s left DWSD with $175 million in outstanding bills.
With only half their customers paying their water bills, Detroit Water is $175 million in debt. Of course, that isn't much compared to the bankrupt city's $18billion dollars in debt.

Good that the UN is getting involved. Without an upcoming presidential election, can't see any US politicians will be getting involved...

Just so you know I read your post and I am keeping my opinion to myself.

If we had population control maybe there would not be so many people complaining about water bills.

Calls abortion genocide but wants "population control" because people want water.

We should be handing out birth control pills like candy.

Instead of making birth control easy for women, they have to jump through hoops like getting a pap smear.

Name a long held democrat state or even city that does not have some kind of excessive welfare program.

Whether it is large pension programs (detriot and new jersey), or welfare to low income families, or people demanding the government subsidize some kind of service, democrat controlled areas lead the nation in subsidizes and welfare.

It recently came out new jersey is looking at a budget shortfall reaching into the billions because of unfunded pension programs. Democrats wanted to raise taxes, Christie vetoed the new taxes.

Detroit and this water issue. Well, Detroit in general.

San Francisco has the largest numbers of homeless people in the nation.

Liberals living in Austin are complaining their taxes going up, even though the liberals voted for every new program from parks to a new light rail.

Don't red states, the south in particular, have the highest subsidized rate and welfare usage?

Yes they are

Drinking water is a basic human right it should be free.

It is "free". You are more than welcome to walk, drive, or hitch a ride down to the river, lake, or ditch and get your self a bucket.
If you want more than you need to drink to stay alive, and want it relatively clean and delivered to your faucet you have to pay.

Ostracizes abortion seekers as people just trying to shirk responsibility, wants birth control pills handed out like candy.

(and when it comes to his daughter, pills aren't good enough - instead should be eligible for not only a permanent birth control procedure but one that's far from the least expensive option)

I'm confused. You just said you pay for your water. The people that are being turned off are choosing to pay NOTHING. How are the situations even remotely the same?

Oops it should have been "public" river, lake, or ditch. I am sure you could get away with getting a 5 gallon bucket if you were that hard up that you couldn't apply for assistance to have it delivered. Or maybe you could find a public drinking fountain. You just have to have the initiative to go get it. The homeless do it all the time.

As I posted in the OT thread on the same ignorant comment of yours:

Perhaps water is a basic human right. But purified water that is engineered to be pumped right to your home and out your tap is hardly a basic human right. You wan't that kind of luxury, pay for it. Otherwise, start collecting rain water or going down to the river with a bucket and purify it yourself.

To add to you trespassing comment (equally ignorant): It isn't trespassing to withdraw water for drinking from a public waterway.
