Every FPS game has FPS stuff, yes, but not every FPS has as much repetition as Destiny.
Bioshock had an intriguing narrative and a great atmosphere that made up for its other flaws.
Agreed; Bioshock (I skipped 2, so I'm talking about 1 and Infinity) isn't as repetitious, has the various plasmids to play with and perhaps most importantly, has a proper
interesting story behind it. There's a good amount of variation in the gameplay between plasmids you use and guns you have. Bioshock 1 and Inf are up there with the classic games I love like System Shock 2 and Deus Ex (no sub-title, the original game. The best one of the 3.)
I really don't understand why people who don't have the game complain as much as those who have played it. What is wrong with you ?
Because people read reviews. I have it and...well, for one it doesn't live up the hype. Period. Moreover, it doesn't even live up to the cost. If you're going to give me an MMOFPS, give me an actual MMOFPS, not some lame "you can have only 3 people and no chat unless you're in the party!" nonsense. Destiny is the first real MMOFPS (and maybe, MMO in general) on a console to get this much attention. It had everyone's attention and COULD have made MMOs on a console seem like REALLY fun stuff. Instead we get a watered down FPS with some multiplay elements built in. And it isn't that they can't have more than 3 players in an instance...I've been in instanced areas while in a party of 3 and seen other people walking around. So why the limit?
Oh - and part of my frustration is that these games nowadays try to hook you by getting the DLC - which they even tell you the story for it - in the preorder bundle. They plan games and then remove sections to shove into DLC. I mean, at least they aren't peddling horse armor in Destiny, but still...can we end this DLC nonsense?
Today I was thinking about what in Destiny really turns me off. I think it's the load times. The amount of delay between finishing a story mission and beginning the next one is just too much. You should just be dropped back to the planet after the mission, where you can select a new mission on the planet or return to orbit. They should really add merchants (or least a robot to identify your drops)on the various planets too.
Oh goodness, yes. Going from earth to...well, earth - but the tower - takes forever. I pretty much load and go play with the cats, or the dog. Or get a drink. Or whatever. I haven't timed it, but I can tell you the elevator on the Normandy on ME1 might actually have taken less time. That's an accomplishment.
