Destiny Beta

Tanks and healers may exist but enemies will still attack whoever is doing the most damage or is closest to them. There are no skills that I see to draw aggro nor abilities to shed it and I don't think you would benefit from these abilities in the game. Every class is still a DPS class. It is a shooter first and foremost. There will undoubtedly be some abilities that fill more of a support role sure, but every class going to be using machine guns etc.

Bungie just announced some pre-order goodies (Vanguard Armory). And it's a timed exclusive (roughly for a year) - I think it's the best way to have pre-order additional content 🙂 You get to play with stuff before some other players and in the end everyone gets to enjoy the things eventually.

Doesn't that mean others will have way stronger armor in the beginning? Or better weapons?

Those things have still some values capped at particular character levels. So many the items will do a wee bit more damage, reload a bit faster or have some special traits or higher stat bonuses? But I don't think it will make or break things, especially when not being lvl20 and having the possibilities to get items for PvP from the PvP rewards. In PvE - it will help you out a bit, I guess, but won't allow you to walk all over the content.

EDIT: That's just me assuming. There were no details given and I did not really check the tooltips on the YT clip. But it seems reasonable.

The vanguard armory is in the beta. It is the robot merchant in the hanger area. He requires vanguard points and rank to purchase items. There is armor for example that gives over 300defense but you need level 20, 60vanguard points plus glimmer, and need to be vanguard rank 3 or something. The beta is capped to 18 vanguard points because I was trying to get a class armor piece and can't get my points any higher than 18.

The vanguard armory will simply have high requirements and cost to gain.

Probably not the best place to ask but does anyone have an extra Xbox One code? I'm on the fence about Destiny so far and curious to try the beta.

The YT video says those Vanguard Armory items are exclusive until Fall 2015, so how can anyone buy them with vanguard marks and glimmer? I think it's something not seen yet.

Also, does someone have a PS3 code available? A friend would like to check it out, has a PS3 though...

The merchant is there, its the same one shown in the video. The items in the beta are level 20 with crazy stats. The ones shown in the video are lower level made for you to be able to get a couple rare items easily on day one.

Nothing changed game wise. It seems to run a little smoother although I got a Loading when switching zones. That was new and not cool.

I haven't read through this whole post but what do you guys think of the multiplayer? It feels a bit off balance. I don't know if I haven't found the right weapons but it seems like I easily get killed.

Wait I'm confused, do you need new beta codes or you can just jump right back in after installing the update?

I got an email last night saying I can play the beta again with a link to my codes. They are
the same codes I've had. I didn't get a chance to sign on last night and see. You probably can just jump back in.

If you played iron banner it's a little tougher because it was mentioned before it had something to do with the actual player stats being carried over where as normal crucible it's a bit more leveled out. I have experienced the same thing so I don't play too much of the mp.

Yeah everyone I game with online that usually play MP FPS gave up on Destiny MP and just play the coop. Looks like it will have a short life.. The ones that like it will probably end up not having enough gamers online ...

Well, the MP in Destiny seems full of people who act elitist. People are actually making posts on other forums telling people to stop playing if they suck and such. Its pretty bad. The problem is thatsome people are probably misunderstanding the MP. Aside from iron banner mode, your level and stats don't mean anything. So bcause the guy on your team was level 5 it shouldnt matter that much. Only your abilities and modifiers on your equipment matter. Say you have an auto rifle with 62atk and increased accuracy when firing from the hip. Only the firing from the hip bonus is in effect and your base atk is nerfed to create an even playing field. So it all comes down to skill. You have to keep playing to get better but there are people who are not that good in PvP and get ridiculed by their own team mates because they don't have a high k/d. That makes it not fun to play for people.

Some people who say the MP sucks don't realize these facts. Plus I have read that the game likes to start with uneven teams fairly often and that makes people drop out. Also some people have found weapons that shoot very fast and that eats through the opponent quickly. I am sure bungie will fix it since they expect people to play it to gain crucible rewards.
