Is the grammer police bored at work? The kid got his point across and if you couldn't thoroughly comprehend what he was saying, even without the punctuation then you're not as bright as you pretend to be. When did people start grading what was written on the internet? Anyways I digress but for the lost soul I'd say go to college but make sure you move out and live in the dorms, because that year or two will the most fun you'll ever have. I wouldn't worry because everybody's somewhat lost at 17.

Take English grammmar, Algebra, and Geometry at the local tech-college.
Take an SAT prep class.
Take the SAT.
Apply to college.

<< Thanks for the help and advice ,i just freaked about that math test >>

I hear ya man, my math is horrible, I could do all the math in grade 12 but I forget most of it already, and I took math last semester. I have to take a math test to see if I can get into my college course. I guess it is time to dig up my old math notes and STUDY

What ever you do don't go Computer Science or engineering, there is a ton of math involved in both, and you say you hate it, so steer away from those.

Information Systems, Network Technology, Computer Repair, Web Master, etc. are all light in math and sound like they might be up your alley, check them out.

From the interests that you listed, it sounds like you need to go into some engineering major. Brush up on your math, because you'll have to take a lot of it.

Here is a link for you: Top Engineering Colleges in the USA

Find a few that are close. Go to the campus and see if you can get a tour. See if you like the school. Apply for the ones you like. Work hard for 4 years. Graduate and get a job.

Best of luck to you.

BTW, DeVry is a good school, (I went there) but it is expensive and not as respected as other Universities. For the sure thing, I would stick with a good, respected 4 year University or Private College.

Not to play devil's advocate here, but how exactly did you graduate a YEAR early if you haven't passed geometry, nor algebra 2? If you are considering engineering, few 2 year tech institutions will offer you even the most vanilla of engineering degrees. To add to that, engineering is all about math when you begin taking upper division courses, so if you can't get passed geometry or algebra 2, well then... you can add that up. (no pun intended ;))

I recommend going to a CC, and taking a bunch of general ed. classes. See what you would really like to do. Most universities offer guaranteed admission to CC students that are a cut above the rest. If you are as good as you say you are, you'll do fine.

I totally agree with 777php, you can delve right into something you think you're good at, but remain single sided for the rest of your life. Or you can go to college, learn something about everything, and be a great addition to mankind.

Come to Alaska! I think it is almost the cheapest State University in the USA: UAF.

saftey-

Only when you feel comfortable with English and Math should you start thinking about going into a carrier. You may have graduated ahead of your class, but most high school students are morons these day?s. I just graduated as well and I sure as hell don?t feel like I?m articulate enough to write without checking my spelling. Don?t get me started on math, I?m simply horrible in that subject. I plan to go to a Jr. College and brush up on my writing and math skills while I still have time to do it. You simply can?t reach your full potential without knowing the basics like the back of your hand. Sure you?ll manage, but being confident will take you further then you could ever imagine. I would recommend becoming and IT Tech. You can specialize in hardware, software, networking and a few other fields as well. One thing is for sure though, you have to do something you enjoy or life will become terribly tedious. There is still more hard work ahead dude, so don't get lazy just yet ;)

your community college should have some tech program you would be interested in... they all require a certain amount of math and english so that should catch you up... you dont need 2 full years of math and english to get better in either subject...

Just keep doing what your doing with computers, stay on top of things and you'll be fine, worry about certifications when your ready to devote all your time to it.

Do you mean Lou Gherig's disease, better known as ALS?

ALS linky

BTW: I think you should go to a JC for two years, take all your Algebra, Pre-Calc and Calc classes there, then transfer to a UC. UCLA is right in your backyard, it's a great school and you'll still have the college town atmosphere.

take a couple months off, and wait until the end of 2002 (november-december) time to start filling out applications for various technical colleges. For you, it would seem like Cal Poly SLO CS is pretty nice :)

No it isn't. I thought you had a 4.0 and took AP classes?

Go to your JC, tell them you want to transfer to UCLA. They will give you a list of about 16 classes that you need to take and get at least a B in. Once you have passed those classes you are now eligible to transfer to UCLA. That simple. It's called pathways look into it. Trust me, anybody can do it.

<< That is true. Althogh I still maintain my psychology degree has benefitted me in no way directly having a BSc on my resume has helped get a job and will only help in the future since the sort of field I'm in and will be likely to be in in the future will look favorably on people who have blown 4 years in university. >>

The reason I suggest something practical is that it makes the job hunt considerably easier. In my graduating class, literally everyone I knew that had a humanities/SS major had a hell of a time finding a decent job, and when they did it was no cakewalk. This is definitely not to say it can't be done- it just requires you to either be more resourceful (you'll have to work harder on selling yourself) or have friends in the right places.

You have to show you're putting some effort into it. Act like you're trying to get help. Posting semi-readable blabber in street-talk language does not show much effort of yours.

Edited for everyone's convenience:

Greetings everyone,

I am a 17 year old high school graduate and I am looking for advise on career choice. I graduated earlier than rest of my class whoare still in school until June. I am so lost. God I know someone here can help. I haven't thought much about college, because, my conselors were inexperienced and could only recommend a local cummunity college that's trashed. I am strongly against spending two or four years in a college taking courses that doesn't go anywhere. I know what I'd like to do already and it is computers. I run a webhosting rig and I'm very familiar with Unix and Linux. I'm very efficient with Windows and can administer ISS servers and many other. I have considerable amount of background knowledge about electronics from years of nitro and electric RC racing. I also have some knowledge about audio cars(what the heck is this?). I'd like to do something in any kind of technology or engineering field, however I'm lost. What is a good career for me? Are devry and ITT tech an option? What did you people in computer related careers do to get your position?

Please help!

Sincerely,

Saftey
