Oooh I really like that 2nd one. I wouldn't need the cabinet below since I flush mounted my ps4 and wii u behind the TV so they're invisible from the front but I like the shelves on each side.

You may not put any electronics on it, but its great for small detective items, or even some ambient lighting creations. But, I would for sure recommend floating. Its pretty easy to do and looks great.

If you decide on something, post some pics.

You do know that those electronics need to breathe right? Those things are going to get hot back there with no way to breathe, right next to a TV that's also going to get hot. PS4's get pretty hot with room to breathe.

Wouldn't that be blowing across the side then if they are blowing top/down? From your pics, the Wii U and PS4 are mounted sideways.

Also hot air rises, so wouldn't you want to blow cool air in from the bottom up, or suck the hot air out from the top, going up, like a heatsink?

Seems like the way you have it (or at least explained it) it would be blowing all of the hot air right back onto the components.

That's also a very cramped area and I don't think you understand just how hot things get. My AV closet after like an hour would be a sauna if I didn't have the door open to it while watching a movie on my PS4 (and I also have AVR/amp in there too which is more than you have back there).

It's towards the back of both consoles. You are right about the hot air! (I didn't even think about it). I'll probably move it to below the consoles and have it blow up when I get home tonight. It is a bit cramped but it is completely open too (not enclosed at all).

It looks clean. I mounted my Xbox One S on the left in my new media room. I opted to go that route instead of putting it behind the screen so I could get to the cords and to make sure I hit a stud when bolting the thing down. Another point is to make it easy enough to access so kids could load DVDs, etc....that's also our BluRay/DVD player.

The only reason I would go with a media cabinet is if I was dealing with a receiver or something for surround sound. That's how my other living room is configured. The furniture adds storage, but collects dust. I think most of those *good cabinets run anywhere from $400-800 too....so that's money saved if you don't need one.

Still under construction. It's deceiving, but that wall is 10 feet long. It makes the TV look smaller in pictures than in real life. I'll likely be moving the piano, but have it parked under the TV for now... Ethan Allen just dropped off the new sectional couch last week so I have a place to sit in there now and I can't get my wife to watch TV anywhere else now. That's a 60" TV and my other one is 50"...also has an Xbox One....so at least we aren't fighting. 😉

But in all seriousness, With the TV being as large as it is, it's more comfortable for me to have the TV where it is on the wall. If I had it lower like I used to on my coffee table (was too cheap to buy a tv stand 😀 ), it'd be difficult to watch TV while reclining on my sofa

Well, we still liked the house.
We just wont be using that TV mount over the fireplace. Will probably cost us a lot of money to have it bricked over.

The only solution to the TV height issue is buying a projector and a screen large enough that it takes up as much of the wall as possible.

tv should be lowered so middle s at eye level

sound bars/speakers should be at ear level

That's what I did in my basement. There's like 3-4 inch wiggle room maybe.
