So I finally got my tv/soundbar/ps4/wii-u wall mounted. It turned out really nice and clean.

The media shelf you see on the left will be moved so it's basically a blank wall with a TV on it. I'm wondering if I should put anything on the wall or just leave it blank. Any suggestions?

I like my TV eye level when sitting on the couch. I have 6 cubes arranged something like this. Two are the speakers.

Why the heck is the TV mounted so high? I would move it down about two feet, and then a low profile hutch/table underneath for storage.

It's actually comfortable to watch from my sofas when I'm reclining. I almost always recline when watching the tv or playing games.

How deep is that wall recessed? You should build a custom bookcase/shelving around the TV.

I couldn't live with just a soundbar for audio, so I'd have a couple of slim tower speakers to either side, and a small equipment rack below the TV with a center channel speaker on top, amplifier/preamp (or receiver) and probably a PC.

But I'm guessing you're fine with the soundbar. I'd probably put a shallow console/sofa table under it, with maybe a couple of houseplants or knick-knacks on it. Maybe something like this:

I think some floating shelves would go nicely. One long one just above the outlets to hid it somewhat, and two smaller ones on the sides of the TV. It would keep that clean look that you currently have.

I don't like having my television on a wall. Went looking at houses last week and saw a TV mount and cables over the fireplace.
I DESPISE that.

I grew up having the TV in a special room. We called it the TV room. It was one of the unfinished bedrooms in the unfinished basement, on a TV stand with special slots for the cable box and VCR and room for movies and games. To this day I still prefer that setup.

The basement in the house I looked at was huge and unfinished. If I ever moved there I would soundproof the whole basement and then set up a home theater. Paint the walls black, lay out some recliners and probably surround sound. For me thats perfect.

I'd put something on the floor below. Maybe a pedestal or two with the controller / remote on top.

Or maybe something like a night stand. Helps keep people from walking close enough to the wall to bump the tv.

I'd also be sorely tempted to flank the screen with faux animal heads - antelope, rhino, or ram.

First thing I'd do is remount your tv at the correct height. That TV is mounted way too high.

That is the ultimate fail.

- over fireplace - check
- no wire management - check

That would make me walk out of the house.

Because, god knows, you couldn't put your own TV somewhere else. As if the entire house was designed around mounting a TV over a fireplace.

No color temperature spec listed for the above. You need daylight, 10,000K.

Nice clean look OP

Since we do real estate photography we get to see the cable issue fairly frequently. So many people mount the TV on the wall and then just have cables draped everywhere.

Simple and clean.

Oooh I really like that 2nd one. I wouldn't need the cabinet below since I flush mounted my ps4 and wii u behind the TV so they're invisible from the front but I like the shelves on each side.
